no wonder this guy has been sucking Kawhi's all year. Dude has a thing for quitters.
Good point, I never thought of that. This guy definitely knows about quitting.

So here’s the math with Randle making some assumptions: http://www.shamsports.com/capulator?...4918f994530659

I used Aaron Gordon as a reference with Randle’s next contract. I used 18M as the year one salary for Randle (which is about 2M less than Gordon probably got).

I then assumed that next year LA renounced every single player except: Lebron, Randle, Ingram, Lonzo, Kuzma and Hart and that they waived and stretched Deng. I also assumed they would have the 20th pick in the draft.

If all that happens, they would have 17M in cap space roughly. So well short of Kawhi’s max who would already be down a lot of money. If they somehow moved Deng and didn’t take back any salary instead of stretching him? They could get to 23M roughly in cap space. Still, way short of Kawhi’s max.

So La has some decisions - do they believe in their core with Bron and the young guys? If so, they can keep Randle and all their Ingram/Ball/Kuz/Hart core and also sign a free agent between 17-23M next year. Or, do they let Randle walk for nothing so they can have their shot at a max level contract?

There is risk there. You lose Randle for nothing, what if Kawhi gets injured or pulls a PG and gets mad you didn’t trade for him? You also lost 1 of your 4 years of Lebron too.

So the question seems to be does LA value Ingram/Ball/Kuz more than a max level star? They can get 2 max stars and keep Ingram/Ball/Kuz or 3 max stars by trading those 3 in a deal.

They can keep Randle along with Ingram/Ball/Kuz and get a 2nd star just below max too.

Hopefully people have a good understanding of LA’s cap situation and some of the decisions. Let me know if you want me to mess with any specific scenarios

I'd take Ingram & Randle (if somehow he's only paid ~$15 mil/year) & another prospect LA would have to acquire by trading Ball/Kuzma. Josh Jackson keeps getting throwin around and that'd be fine. The Lakers window is probably shorter than the Warriors even if they got Kawhi this year - 2 years MAX. I would find it impossible to believe LeBron is playing at the same level in 3 seasons time.

Don't underestimate how long PEDs can keep someone going for at a good level. DO NOT trade them Kawhi thinking it'll be short lived.

Kawhi's dumb ass would just play for the mid-level in that scenario

Kuzma is off the table, according to SAS. Lakers aren’t offering him in an trade package for Kawhi.

Their best offer is likely Ingram, Hart, and a future 1st. Which is a joke.

I could easily see Kawhi taking a major pay cut to play with LA next season. Seriously.

At this point I think he just wants to be a Laker, period.

At this point, I really don't care about getting a return back for Leonard.

I really just want to see Pop and RC tell this see you at training camp. I'd love to see what Uncle Dennis and Kawhi would do. It would really just be the best case scenario from a comedy standpoint especially if they somehow sit out or Kawhi is just purposefully sucking ass out on the court.

Worst case scenario, Spurs lose him for nothing, Kawhi is short 40-80mil and the Spurs rebuilding is accelerated instead of taking on B-level, C-Level prospects like Ingram and Kuzma.

That'd be the best news of the day if it was actually true but Steven A Smith is a ing re so the current offer is probably just Kuzma

That future first better be by trading Lonzo to a crappy team and be a likely top 10 pick, or else heavy pass.

I’d rather just take back a first, Saric, Bayless and Covington for Kawhi and Gasol or Mills. Or whatever makes the numbers work.

If you told me 3-4 years ago that Kawhi would be one of the biggest gots in sports history, I would have called you crazy....

I would have told you that you'd have a better shot at seeing Donald Trump as President....

    Yet here we are

baseline bum was right, ban this from the team next year so he can't poison the well and tell him he's more than free to be a Laker next year when LeBron is a year older and he's short 40-80mil. Let's see that Jordan deal go up then

It is absolutely stunning to see this coming from Kawhi of all people.

Sometimes I still can't wrap my head around it, like it's some kind of a sick joke.

I just don’t see PATFO making any deal with the Lakers, especially now. They’re not going to sell the farm and it just wouldn’t be worth it otherwise. Philly or bust.

I don’t get the drama here, lebron To LA didn’t change nothing. If LA wants kawhi they will have To make a big offer.

Kawhi will not sit a year, nobody did it before.

So no panic, if there’s a good offer he’ll go, if not see you at training camp.

I still believe that we’ll reach an agreement with the Lakers, they have the best pieces with ingram and randle imo.

I’m not kidding or trolling when I say this: it’s over for the Spurs. It is inevitable that Kawhi returns to LA. The Spurs are just sourgrapes rn.
Someone still mad at missing out on PG... Can't wait for the Fakers meltdown when they'll realize Lebron came for semi-retirement and out of NBA biz

Enjoy JaVale and Lance pal, you're not getting Kawhi this year if not for a godfather offer. Spurs are in no hurry and they'll just wait for Magic to panic when he'll realize this roster isn't going anywhere...

One executive said the proposed packages have gotten worse with each round of negotiations, while another said they’re flat-out unacceptable. That might change if the Lakers are determined to add their second star now. Multiple league sources suggest the Lakers could send a package to the Spurs featuring Ingram, multiple first-round picks, a sign-and-trade involving Randle, and possibly Josh Hart.
