The NBA is now like a recreational league and the Warriors and Lakers are those AAU teams that come to that rec league and take home the trophy.
Light years ahead lmao its easy when stars get together for the low and start chasing for rings
The NBA is now like a recreational league and the Warriors and Lakers are those AAU teams that come to that rec league and take home the trophy.
Been a rec league since iverson. Why td was a savior
With the Lakers signing stephenson, Rondo, mcgee, Caldwell pope, and with them not wanting to part with Ingram, it is looking less and less likely they will make a real run at kawhi this off season. And PATFO has done good not giving in to their crap offers. And it's not looking good for clippers or 76ers or celtics to make a trade for kawhi.
The spurs want to be compe ive and are not looking to rebuild. At this point is it worth doing some internal family counseling? sitting with kawhi and just trying to find out what can be done to work together.
It's like a divorce where the high maintenance woman (kawhi) wanted out because her needs weren't being met but she wouldnt say a single word to her boring but sweet husband (The spurs) making it impossible to know what she is thinking. How can they please her if she doesn't tell them what she wants and all during this time her mom (uncle Dennis) tells her he's no good for her and she deserves someone more handsome and successful (The Lakers). But then they think about their child they had together (2014 championship) and she realizes that they were able to do something together that was special. Once the lines of communication open, it can lead to a restoration of this marriage and perhaps make it stronger. But both sides have to be willing to communicate and compromise. Lol
Anyways, perhaps this is our best bet. Likely? No. Easy? No. But worth it if it actually fixes the relationship? 100% yes.
^^They could start by offering Uncle Dennis an ownership stake, might help fix the relationship with Kawhi..
^^ dude that analogy got weird
That never got offered, and for good reason.
And you think there is an end in sight to that trend?
yo do you need to talk to somebody?
In theory, the Kawhi thing shouldn’t be a big deal. Manu and Parker are likely gone. Everyone else either denied comment or said good things about Kawhi. And they say Kawhi still respects Pop. How come they can’t work it out? I guess bc it’s really about Kawhi wanting to be in LA.
But nah, I'd rather the husband (the Spurs) not take back the dramatic wife (Kawhi), tbh. We deserve better. Lol.
I think that trend really only started when LeBron did his stint with Miami. Before that, veterans knowing they're at the tail end of their career would usually want to play for a championship.
I think it's gonna take a while, but soon, compe ion will get back as the main drive for these players again. I think it's just the compe ive nature of the game. It sucks that weak-minded individuals (KD, Boogie, Kawhi, LeBron) are ruining that compe ion imo.
I do not see human nature altering this trend. The NBA would have to do some pretty fancy legislating to alter it, and I don't see that happening.
The "trend" of players doing this began due to social media and media coverage in the 2010s, tbh..
The stupid infatuation with rings, mostly from Kobe-centric media, created pressure on these stars that no longer wanted to put their legacies in the hands of incompetent GMs..
yeah wtf was that man![]()
Wonderful to see. If only the NBA had enough balls to allow this.
Also, I guarantee if the Spurs had reacted this way when Leanord got Zsa-Zsa'ed, he would have played last season. No one had his back, and he's never forgotten.
What are these current-day legacies though?
No one is going to remember KD or Curry or maybe not even LeBron as an indisputable Numero Uno who lead his team to multiple championships.
I don't think people will think highly of these Warriors-style, 12-All-Star-roster teams in the future.
Thankfully, your 8 and 9 year old kids will turn on this 10 years from now.
The compe ion will be "who can be that #1 guy?" again and I can't wait.
This era is trash.
Prediction.
Page 521 is when kawhi will male the official announcement
TBH the rings infatuation started a lot earlier than that. A lot of these players grew up watching Ewing,Malone,Barkley and saw them get crucified for not winning rings and didn't want to end up like them.
It sucks I know, but in 20 years, people will only remember these superteams. No one is gonna remember the 2004 Pistons or 2003 Spurs apart from diehards tbh...
And it's only gonna get worse, these kids aren't gonna all of a sudden be like man I really want to be Larry Bird![]()
I don't think so either.
I don't even think the current Warriors would really be proud of what they did. These are dark times in the league.
Kawhi isn't announcing .
