The aftermath was pretty embarrassing too. Players were smiling and the crowd was laughing as replays were being shown. Then there was the idiot who took a selfie with the team and of course the team was stupid enough to pose. I'm guessing it was just a random fan but if he's someone within the team that just makes it worse.
The guy who was taking a photo was a former NT player .
Disappointing, but to be honest, I'm okay with the fight, players are trying to protect themselves inside the court.
The embarrassing part was when some of the staff and coches joined and it became a brawl, and they were still trying to chase someone in the stands; and you don't hit a guy who is already down.
I'm proud of some of the players though, like Troy Rike (Philippine reserve player), he was trying to protect the Aussie player that was down.

Anyone just see Billy King on NBATV arguing against Philly or Boston trading a lot for Kawhi? That's experience talking

People really believe Cousins didn't get any offers from any of the NBA teams
Nothing more annoying than the holier than thou NBA Twitter elites saying “well all the other teams could have offered him a deal”

They did or knew he wouldn’t sign whatever they could offer.

This is taking everyone gets a trophy to the next level. Can’t beat em? Join em.

It’s like a kid playing 2K on easy GM mode and celebrating winning all the les after signing good players for under market.

Pretty much. He was especially bullish on teams not giving up multiple future firsts. It was sort of hilarious, but it was also really sobering to hear him talk about it, because you know his whole career as an executive was defined by trades that life. He didn't even make them of his own volition, but no one even seems to care anymore.

    ...

Anyway, they also had Jabari on there saying that he agreed with SA holding onto Kawhi and that there is a chance it could work out. I don't know how much of that was him feeling pressured to sound impartial/optimistic for a national audience and how much of it is his honest evaluation of the situation. I'd be all in favor of bringing Leonard back at this point on a good deal and then pivoting toward making moves to fix the roster. But the supermax just can't happen. He's going to have to give, whether it's by opting into that last year before getting DPE money, not getting max raises off the DPE salary or having a lot of the back end of the deal being non-guaranteed. Simply put, SA couldn't make that deal before all this started. They damned sure can't now.

There has been so many times i have seen Aussies try to start in the Philippines and even more so in Thailand. It was rewarding to see them get their asses handed to them on a grand scale for all the world to see. Filipinos are some of the nicest people i've ever met but once you cross that line with them there's no turning back. Props to them but unfortunately there will be consequences when it comes to their FIBA participation.

Haven't posted in a long while. And disappointed in seeing Kawhi Leonard doing what he is doing. That said, my tuppence.

I think the Spurs aren't going to trade him. They won't offer him the supermax either unless he comes to training camp and commits himself to the team again. If he does that and shows the same ability he had prior to "injury", they should offer him the supermax just before the start of the season. If he refuses the offer, fine. Tell him, he is not going to be sent in a trade amounting to pennies for a dollar. And let him play till February.

If Kawhi resists, acts cranky and deliberately under-performs, the Spurs send his ass home and try to trade him for pennies for a dollar indeed. If on the other hand, and I suspect there is a good possibility of this happening, Kawhi rediscovers his compe ive spirit and plays to potential, the Spurs tell him they will offer the supermax again for sure the next season as he would again qualify as an all-NBA player.

It is easy to forget that Kawhi himself had a great role to play in his overall development. He acquiesced to the Spurs' plans for him and developed from a defensive role player to a first option step by step. If Pop convinces him that 2017-18 is an anomaly, there is a good chance that Kawhi can be got back as a Spur. If not, the Spurs shouldn't mind as they tried and can trade him for peanuts and work again in the off-season to get a good free agent or tank and work through the draft.

Warriors will probably sign one of the greatest of all-time basketball players found somewhere on this planet unknown to the whole world.

Billy King didn’t fail because he gave up too much. He failed because he gave up too much for guys past their primes. Kawhi is a superstar. You can’t over pay.

It's hard to know for sure but you have to question the man's agent/uncle relationship, character and heart, and his quad. If healthy and focused he is a top 3 possibly the best player in the NBA.

he said the same thing with just a local audience (WOAI) when he looked straight at the camera and spoke to Pop in the 2nd person and basically said that if the spurs FO just got into a room with all of Kawhi's group and they hashed it all out that leonard would stay. he hadn't repeated that since as far as i had seen.

Best case remains retaining Leonard and resolving whatever issues led to the situation.

One of those issues was likely that the Spurs wanted him to have surgery to deal with the quad once and for all. He balked, then it devolved into him wanting out, then getting the 10th medical opinion that actually agreed with him so he could play, then staying away and rehabbing on his own. This issue also is what instigated the trade demands (along with not getting the shoe deal his reps thought he should get, and whatever backchannel communication there was with the Lakers and/or LeBron). Now that no realistic trade the Spurs would find appealing has materialized, that Leonard faces a significant loss of potential contract value if he loses out on the supermax, and that Leonard faces a lot of questions about his health as well as his mindset, this situation could be headed towards at least a serious attempt by both parties at reconciling the relationship.

Theres plenty of the teams who have 0 to lose trying a Kawhi trade only for 1 year. They could boost sales and intrest in whatever team it is. I thought a Hornets deal could make sense getting Kemba/Monk and either Frank or MKG. He would be part of Jordan's team and Jordan could have heavy influence on him staying and the shoe deal that Dennis wants.

Yeah, I think he long ago burned his bridge with Pop. I think had Uncle not been around to interfere, this stuff never would have happened. Or I could be wrong, Kawhirisis may have ensued regardless. Either way, I don't want him anymore. If by chance they do work something out though, it will not impact my fandom at all.

I still think the Lakers will balk and send over a package that make C/Pop just say it it and ship him out. That Boogie shining stole the shine off of their offseason and they'll panic and put together a package that isn't complete horse to the front office.

I honestly think Pop and RC don't want to deal with Uncle Dennis and his agent's bull for the next 5 years.

It'll suck but at the end of the day, the Lakers will still put together the best overall package for him in the eyes of PATFO.

Does anybody know what Boston offered at the trade deadline? If trade doesn't happen during off-season & relationship isn't repaired, Spurs gotta hope LBJ's patience or lack thereof with that Roster forces Magic to make big moves to aquire Kawhi.

All signs point to Pop & RC being a bit too cavalier about this whole ordeal.
