True, assuming no red flags with his 'injury' that's a straightforward major negative. The holdout threat was dumb, which is of course why they got Smith to say it.

Is he truly that miserable in SA? If so it would've gotten long before this year. All reports I've seen is that he spends all day in San Diego in the summer in the gym anyways. We all understand the allure of home, but still.
I have been to Kawhi's home town Moreno Valley a bunch of times since I have cousins that live there. It's a small town about an hour and half outside of LA. It's a pretty boring and dull place to live. That's why I don't get why Kawhi would not be comfortable in SA since he's super introverted and grew up in a place that's even more quite than SA.

Pretty sure they weren't the ones who "leaked" the holdout stuff to SAS. I think that was Magic hardcore tampering again. I'm really surprised at how little folks have been talking about what Magic has been doing for the last year or so. It didn't stop with PG.

So Chandler is on his way to Philly. Does that mean they are giving up on Kawhi?

They were never really that interested, if they wouldn’t even part with Markelle ing Fultz

That would be a weird decision, since Wilson Chandler is coming off a bad season and is in his 30s, he shouldn't be an NBA starter..maybe they're that stupid, though

interested in who they send out, if it's just Bayless and a pick that might signal a Kawhi trade tbh....
I doubt it's Bayless AND a pick. I imagine it's for cap space and Denver sends a pick. If this has anything to do with a Kawhi trade, it's about getting another asset for Leonard and a new source of ballast rather than Covington or Bayless. But it likely isn't about Leonard, at least not in a way that makes a trade more likely.

It might be, but I think they would gladly move him and Bayless and keep Covignton. Getting Chandler should not cost them anything.

They limited his options. They are obsessed with endorsements so any top 10 market should have been good enough for them. Goes to show you how stupid they are. Playing for a legendary organization such as the Celtics,Sixers will get you endorsements. they could have floated rumors about Kawhi wanting to play for the Knicks or Nets. NYC is ripe for a superstar talent and the market is even better then LA. They are clearly a stupid bunch of people.
Pretty much. Not to mention that he'd be the face of whichever eastern team he'd join. That combined with making conference finals/finals would really expand his "brand". If he goes to LA he'll alway be number 2 to LBJ. Bunch of amateurs.

Ya, I meant I don't think acquiring Chandler has anything to do with Kawhi from a potential replacement standpoint..

With his personality type, I think KL is ok being #2.

I always heard he wanted to be an MVP and an MJ type player. #2's don't win MVP's, especially now that it's essentially a media award. Who knows what he really wants though.

This begins and ends with his reps, at least the impetus to try to force a move. Pop's not coaching forever and hey, if he can get paid and just live there year round why not?

If the 76ers fall of the trade table then the Clippers move to the front. Tobias Harris, sign and trade Harrell, and a couple of first round picks might do the trick. Sending him to the Clips keeps the talent spread out rather than concentrated with the Lakers and gives the Spurs an outside chance of being compe ive with superior game planning. Gallinari could get thrown into the pot but Gasol's contract might have to be moved along with others. If Leonard struggles or if he is an army of one at all those picks could go lottery.

Any other insight? Communication between those two is good, although I guess it could be a goodbye....
