If you consider a contender to be someone who can come out of the weakest conference in recent history for 8 consecutive years then sure. I don't consider someone who just got swept to be contending for . Otherwise, the Spurs are also contenders.

I thought '05 was pretty exciting when the Spurs got Finley and VanExel. '04 was also pretty exciting with the Brent Barry signing. '00 was great with the Spurs keeping Duncan and then signing Derek Anderson.

I'm pretty numb to it at this point. Doesn't really matter what we do with Leonard at this point as we aren't gonna get for him. He'll be a Laker in one year's time and the Warriors will have another LOB. My interest in the NBA has gone way down in recent years anyway.

After being eliminated in 1st round by Memphis, the Spurs got Kawhi. After 1st round elimination in 2015, the Spurs got LMA. I guess the team will find someone good after losing Kawhi...
