Ideally a sign and trade would workout best for both. Why lose more money?
I doubt whatever team trades for him will commit long term money before he sets foot on the court next season and shows he's still a top 5 player. I think the only team that would even consider him giving him a long-term extension would be the Spurs and it's probably significantly less than the 219mil he could have made.

At this point they don't care. 25 years of history says otherwise anyways. Pop doesn't strike me as an individual who gives a what other people say, especially now.
Maybe, maybe not. I think they very much care about their reputation around the league/public. It's survived the barrage of teardown attempts from Kawhis camp and ESPN but I doubt they'd stay silent or not make a move if that becomes a topic of discussion during this saga tbh.

Because Uncle D's experience is being a retail banker at Wells Fargo. That alone should tell anyone what they need to know, tbh. The actual 'agent' is experienced in representing NFL players, so of course there's threats of a continued holdout. These guys are in over their heads, yet think they have it all figured out (a common theme in American society).

    I gues it's unreasonable from Kawhi's perspective.

His uncle is his father figure, he was close to him and his mom after his dad died, he helped Kawhi when Kawhi was a nobody...It's not that hard to understand that Kawhi feels he owes his uncle.

Doesn't matter what some fans think here, Kawhi's not stupid. It's likely he already knows he's paying a high price for keeping his uncle on his group, at the same time he could think that most people will forget about this weird episode of his career if he has a great season again on some East/West team.
At the same time I think if uncle Dennis becomes reasonable and stops playing dirty tricks it is still repairable. I still hold still all these dirty tactics and greed is stemming from the agency and agent. Uncle Dennis is following their lead and Kawhi following uncle.

It's been said many times this thread, but it really can't be overstated enough how ing dumb his group has played this and how badly they've ed things up for Kawhi.

Even if their end goal was to end up playing in Los Angeles or another big market, they could have easily done so with Kawhi having a ton more money and an intact reputation

What Leonard's group has going for them is fatigue. At some point the temptation to deal him to Milwaukee and be rid of the drama will be great. If the group persists, they will have left tens of million$ on the table and frankly will have destroyed Leonard's rep in the league. How many other NBA players have played for teams they didn't want to because they had a contract to honor? Leonard's complaints are laughable. Wait until you're a free agent and go where you want, what's the problem? Also now that it's clear the injury was an excuse to holdout, man, that's not a rep any player should ever want.

It is unquestionable he is top 5 player. The only issue is health and so of course a sign and trade would include a physical and thorough examination of his medical do ents. I'm sure hes worth at least a max contract for 4 years.

If that view is correct, then perhaps there is still a chance for a reconciliation. But at some point Kawhi, himself, has to come to the plate. He can't send up pinch-hitters forever.

The extension he can sign right now is far below a max deal if he waits until next summer (which is as everyone knows well below the supermax). That’s why Kawhi won’t sign an extension in a trade. The huge jump in the cap made it possible to get Kawhi on a low salary the past few years and also enabled the Warriors. But it makes it hard to sign in-season extensions nowadays besides the supermax for max players.

    Retail bankers

Can be among the s of the earth and least intelligent people out there. They know less about money than 50% of customers. Just glorified used car salesmen.

He claims to have connections with Kawhi and his group through the agency. I think Cris Carter is part of the same agency? Someone correct me if I am wrong on that.

Huh? The Spurs seem to be taking the hit everywhere but on ST. After a few monster games for Philly or the Lakers or whoever next season, the national media will be proclaiming Kawhi a top 5 player and comeback player of the year. And continue to kick dust in the face of the Spurs.

Espn and quite every people that till now has talked about the Kiwhi situation have to be call out in some manner.
I understand that' probably breaking chances to mend the relationship with uncle dennis, but at some point some of the bull this people is throwing to the Spurs organization has to end...
Till now the only voice that has said something that could be considered for the Spurs side is Simmons, and his 8/9 doctors thing.
Imho its obvious that all this has been orchestrated since a long time and the main media, all have an interest to provoke a splitting on the Kiwhi/Spurs relationship.

The point that has to be made clear is that the Spurs behavior has always been in the sense of protect the player from any kind of dangerous injury (see the fact we decided to sit him in the conference finals just for a sprained anckle) and having confidence in the player's and his group honesty (see the freedom given in consenting them to find other medical opinions and consenting his reabilitation in N.Y.)...
The other point to make clear is that Kiwhi has became what he was till one year ago in great part because of the Spurs environment, choices and training...and that the relationship with Pop was so good that he is the only person he's still talking with...

The contradictions coming from the Kawhi's group are many and obvious...its time to let them emerge and to èut out the possible conflict of interest between the player and the sociaty thet's acting for him.
