Right. Even if there's a reconciliation are the Spurs going to be open to the idea of the full supermax? For a guy who held out on the Spurs last season and whose group has been doing everything to tarnish the Spurs' rep?
Getting a great deal for your organization trumps the pettiness of not giving Kiwi what he wants.
Many of you farmers say our team is , but why did LBJ choose to play with these "scrubs?" Don't say money, cause he could have signed with Cleveland for over $200 million dollars. He left over $50 million to play with Lonzo and our other scrubs.![]()

Except Kawhi hasn't publicly said
Kawhi is just a pawn
Pop publicly talked dismissively and disrespectfully to Kiwi. "You have to ask Kiwi and his camp..." or some like that was said any time Kiwi came up as a topic from reporters. Any man would be pissed off. I don't know the whole story and don't care, all I know is when Pop had a chance to publicly support his disgruntled star, he chose not to.
It's easier to be a movie producer in LA.
It's pretty obvious you can't trust the media's coverage. Stephen A's flip flop on GS signing Cousins just proved they're just being told what to say by producers to generate interest in an embarrassingly imbalanced NBA right now.
Is it possible that this whole ordeal was never about playing in LA, it was all about the supermax. I'm sure Kawhi would choose LA if the Spurs offered the same amount of money as the Lakers. But this whole thing was a poorly executed plan of using LA as leverage if the difference between the Spurs offer and what the Lakers offer wasn't substantial. It's pretty clear he's getting horrible advice from his team and they tried to play the Spurs as chumps but does anyone else believe this all goes away of Kawhi proves himself healthy and the Spurs give him his money?
That is the 220 million dollar question. Hard to believe they would, but talent trumps everything sometimes.
Sounds like you should be mad at Magic, not Pop.
It's possible. But the inexperience shows as they immediately went with a scorched Earth policy and played the absolute last and most extreme cards first. You don't do that if you're trying to get a team to max out a player, especially an extension of that magnitude. It's all about saying the right things, about how the player is committed to the organization and being the face of the franchise.
I don't feel sorry for the Spurs franchise. they deserve something like this to happen to them. Sadly, they do not know what to do about it and instead of owning it and trade KL for some pieces they are being petty and selfish and would rather ruin a man's career even more and hurt their own franchise and lose him to free agency. CMON Spurs!!!! great franchises learn to rebound from like this. YOU want to be known as a great franchise instead of a small market club. make the moves and move on... Build from instead of wallowing in self pitty.
The lakers have been through this 4 times, Celtics have been through this 9 times, Cleveland 3 times, Bucks, Miami etc.... Step the UP Spurs
Come on you can't be that dense to not realized Lebron came to the Lakers mainly because they are located in LA. Lebron would have signed with the Lakers even if they had an entire roster consisting of G-leaguers. Lebron is obsessed with Hollywood and has a film production company he's trying to get off the ground. LA has everything that Lebron want's business wise. This was a business move more so than a basketball move.
Anyways the way the NBA landscape is set up is that the Spurs are never going to get a great deal unless the Celtics are wiling to give up Tatum/Brown. The only other scenario where the Spurs would get a great deal is if the Pelicans would be willing to trade Davis for Kawhi or if the Sixers are willing to give up Simmons/Covington/Saric. Highly unlikely any of these scenarios I mention happen so the Spurs are just better off letting Kawhi walk. No point in getting a bunch of bums in which you will have to overpay to keep.
How are they being petty? Kawhi SIGNED his contract for 4 years. The spurs are not obligated to trade anyone under contract. Kawhi has to hold his end and playout his final year.
Ha ha ha! Awesome... somebody getting a little impatient?
What's today's done deal?
no . They're trying every persuasion tactic they can think of.
Yeah that’s the allie you want
Lkrfan and apalisoc need to hang out together
Step up Spurs and trade your best player when you don't have to because you've done so well?
I assume that was someone's sock.
Laker fan's not that bright.
And here is where the problem lies which is your Laker homerism doesn't allow you to see how Kawhi ed over the Spurs and how this was all manufactured bs by his opportunistic Uncle and a bunch of s who want him out of SA at all costs.
I am starting to get a su ious feeling that Kawhi will end up staying with the Spurs. All of the reports lead me to conclude that this may just been a leverage play for the Super Max contract. PATFO obviously are only willing to trade him for a specific package and I don't think they will lower their demands much, nor should they.
Why do laker fans even want kawhi? They got kuzma![]()
Muhahahaha. If this is not a troll, this post gives me great satisfaction.![]()
