Let's just say this shouldn't even be an issue, but it is.
It's only an issue when you choose to make it one. 19 year old males with one year of college often act this way. Only now it's on twitter.

LOLonnie thinks reality and Earth are part of an illusion and that the moon landings were faked. Dude is automatically Cosmo's favorite player. Suffice it to say, if you place any serious value on what he has to say, you're a ing moron too.

Exactly. I read his blurbs on the last page of the most recent SI and chuckled. I was like "ahh, explains the Sideshow Bob haircut.".

It’s racist to celebrate Independence Day tbh?
I'm not saying that at all, just calling out the "the most cruel slave owners were the blacks that owned them
a lot of slave owners were nice and treated the slaves like family
there was a lot of slaves that were not blacks also" bull that racist dip s like to say to validate their own racism and to minimize the horror of slavery.

Smh its made national news. Not ever gonna stop being a fan of the Spurs over their political opinions. Spurs before politics for me. But i do wish they would quit constanly being political so we can enjoy the game instead of constanly defending pop and now lonnie.
Exactly..except in my case i cant be a fan anymore at this point cause i cant support and cheer for root for these idiots. Spurs used to be an ESCAPE from politics/everything else for me, but nowdays seems like NOTHING can escape the taint of lib s, injecting their politics into every possible thing and ruining it.

I agree. I would have pointed it out but I don't like to meddle in politics or social awareness topics since that's not why I check sports for. Not critical of anyone's views but dude might want to show some game first before getting all judgmental and preachy.
Why does someone's stats make him/her more or less an expert on their political surroundings? Just because LeBron is the world's greatest bball player doesn't mean he's any kind of expert on anything outside of bball. LeBron uses his fame for political gain, as does Pop, Kerr, Curry and all in that same ilk. They need to cut it out, quite frankly.

I agree with the thought that when Pop started ranting on Trump and politicians this past year, I hated it b/c there's no point to it in basketball. Plus it showed his true colors and I lost even more respect for him due to this.

I don't pay to come hear Pop's rants or see athletes sit during the national anthem or any protests against guns or cops or authorities. I pay to see professional athletes play a game I love, that's it.

Pop didn't give his rants during a game. Neither did Lonnie. They can say or think whatever the they want on their own time. It's completely un-American to think otherwise. Even if you don't support what Kaep did, this isn't the same thing.

And? What's your point? They are certainly en led to their opinions, but they're also certainly en led to fan backlash as well. If they say such things they must be ready to deal with the good and the bad. Hence the term "snowflakes". You've got to be able to support claims, do your own research, and defend yourself and your stance or don't say anything that will catch you flack either way. They melt...hence the fact that he deleted the tweet shows he can't defend himself and doesn't want to lose any more chances at making American money.

Yeah, this is the funny part to me. They're still doing their jobs that you pay to see. I barely give a about interviews at all -- because it's not the game.

    You keep changing your points.

No one was charging you to see Lonnie's tweet or Pop's opinion on Trump. What they said off the court doesn't affect what they did on the court.

Lonnie said nothing that would be "proven wrong" with research. Someone likely told him to cool his tweets, which is a good idea because people easily get offended when you say something that doesn't affect them. Him realizing that isn't a sign of weakness. It's just part of growing up.

    I never changed my point.

Of course no one charges me to read someone's idiotic tweet. But if you say something like that and it gets backlash, then defend yourself and I can respect that. And in a pro sport such as this, I do come to question someone's heart on the court when they can't show some respect to the country they live and make a healthy living in. Let's be truthful, his agent probably told him to take it down because it's all about the bottom line and making money, especially for such a young and new player.

That's probably true. You do have to ask yourself why you hold these tweets against him, though, if he provides you with exactly what you pay for. Like I don't pay to see Lonnie tweet either, so him saying whatever doesn't affect me nearly as much as him not playing well. I certainly don't put this into his "heart" just because he doesn't love the US the way others do.

Of course pop an lonnie have every right to their personal opinions, however stupid they may be. But it is also extremely hard to defend pop's decision to aggressively on half his entire fanbase, in a completely unnecessary, inflammatory manner. He chose to deliberately inject divisive politics into Spursworld. Of course that is gonna affect the fans' at ude towards the spurs.
