Maybe this helps SA in a phi deal? Easier to trade Saric now
Spurs trade: gasol, mills, murray, white. Hornets trade: batum, walker.
Spurs next season:
Walker/Parker
Green/Bellinelli/Walker
Kawhi/KA/Manu
Batum/Gay
LMA/Milutinov/Metu
They're not going to give up all 3 of Fultz, Saric, Covington. Spurs should be trying to get them to budge on and prioritizing Fultz, because he conceivably possesses star potential and Covington, because they'll need a big, 3 and D wing as a replacement.
It's not ideal, but they could get by with a combination of Gay, Anderson, Bertans at PF for the next 2-3 seasons. Other possibilities are acquiring the rights to Bolden in the trade or trading Murray for a young big or combo forward, like one of the Hernangomez brothers.
They don’t have to: Give up Fultz + Saric + Wilson Chandler. It allows them to keep another rotation player while also getting Kawhi.
Fultz is emotionally done in Philly so much trashed talked about him on the year he had. He was pretty much thrown under the bus for being mentally weak that I do not think Philly really wants to handle next year. This was a number one draft pick that Philly screwed up on and GM and coaches loose their jobs when they screw up on a top 5 draft pick. It’s so bad that they are not even letting him play in the summer league. So I think they get lucky this trade comes down because if they keep him and don’t get Kawhi and he sucks again....new coach etc.
I like Covington and think he makes us better this year but, overall I think we are better off taking Chandler and the cap space he provides for next summer. It's probably a win for both teams if he stays in Philly and we get saric+fulrz+picks.
Exactly. They give up one rotation player (Saric) and replace him with Kawhi. Replace Saric with Kawhi last year and how good is PHI? They beat BOS and CLE IMO. Chandler came into cap space and they got a 2nd pick for him.
At this point, I’ll take whatever Philly offers as anything on their roster outside of Bayless is better than practically anything the Clippers can offer and Lakers will offer.
Time to pull the ripcord OR go the long game and make Kawhi sit out and destroy his career. That’s as good as anything at this point.
I really don’t think that SA will trade him before 7/16. They may not offer SM but they can offer some form of contract.
I think Pop wants to see him, in person, and practicing. 1st opportunity is Team USA coming up.
Let's see if he punks out of that too.
The podcast said the right thing: At a minimum Kawhi has to help the Spurs help him. Want out. Be a quitter. But help the Spurs trade you and put pressure on the teams you want to go to.
Ugh.. would have definitely preferred him to Beli on this kind of deal.
yeah but who tf is ryan broekhoff?
ugh!!!!!
I wanted the Spurs to sign him, Aussie 3/D player...
I don't even think they'd do Fultz and Saric. I think if the Spurs get them to budge on Fultz, he replaces Saric in the package.
Covington makes more sense as a 2nd asset than Saric. Like I said, Spurs would have some relatively long term options at PF. At SF, specifically the type Covington is, even though I think he's overrated, they'd have more difficulty filling that role. Chandler is past his prime.

It sucks that Dallas is going to usurp the euro talent crown by virtue of donic. I guess we missed the boat there and have been getting good ncaa talent, but still it's the end of a generation
The Sixers have 17 players under contract? Including two-way players?
Not including two-way . . .
Starters: Saric, Covington, Embiid, Re , Simmons
Bench: Fultz, Chandler, Bjelica, Johnson, McConnell
Deep bench: Bayless, Holmes, Anderson, Luwawu-Cabarrot, Korkmaz, Smith, Shamet
Bayless is headed for a buyout and if a Leonard trade doesn't get them down to 15, I'd guess Anderson is salary dumped.
Interesting. Thanks man.

1h Hearing that the meeting between Clint Capela and the Houston Rockets wasn't very positive. Capela is seriously considering playing on qualifying offer and becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer when he'll have a better market, according to a league source.

The Detroit Pistons will waive guard Dwight Buycks, a league source told The Athletic. Buycks averaged 7.4 points and 2.0 assists in 14.7 minutes per game in 29 games for the Pistons last season.
