But MLE for a guy who never gets hurt and can absorb minutes at the 3/4 and defend reasonably ...
Much better than that crap deal they gave Mills who couldn't be counted on as a starter and couldn't defend anyone
If Manu isn't committed to coming back they might as well match. No real SF size other than Green and you can't count on Kawhi...

Why is it too long? He's only 24 and I don't think he's hit his ceiling yet. If he develops a corner 3 and a reliable midrange game he'll be a bargain.
I don't think he's the answer to replacing Kawhi but he's starter material imo.
Patty Mills makes $12 mil and some change a year while Fathead would be almost making $10 mil a year. GTFO with that .
As much as I hate Mills' contract, he's earned it. The only thing Fathead has earned is what Memphis is going to give him I guess. I rather they pay for it and not the Spurs.

Lance Stevenson got like 9 mill on 1 year this is pretty good value for KA. Takes up like 1/13th of the payroll.
Edit: nm.lance on a 1 yr 4.5. But still. Not outrageous and we are limited.
Saying that, PATFO is going to match and probably give him a loyalty raise.

About 99% sure they will match. It's common sense to me. They are hard capped and have about 20 something mill to go over to sign their players and use BAE and the rest of the MLE. Kyle is more valuable than Bertans and can play both forward positions. If Kyle takes the 8.5 mill per they will have around 12 mill more for the BAE and the rest of the MLE. When those two exceptions are used they'll have about 6 mill for Bertans etc. I know y'all don't like Kyle but it's not a bad deal for what he can do.

Actually it all depends what we get back for Kawhi. Of it's a good sf/pf then KA is gone. Good for him.
Only way the spurs don't match is if they feel that Kyle hasn't worked to improve himself every year or that they have issues with his work ethic in general. If they match it'll be an indication that they feel he can continue to get better.
Good for him. Hopefully we can move on and signs Putney or someone, maybe even Ledbetter or Blossomgame. We'll see.
