People comparing this contract to Mills miss exactly how Mills has the most valuable skill in the NBA - shooting. Kyle does not. Thats the bottom line on why Patty got more. Using Pattys contract to justify matching this one is ridiculous. If Kyle could shoot then this would be a bargain. But he can't and he's also shown that he's scared as when it comes to open shots so no thanks.

If Kyle could shoot at a high level he would be a Paul George comparable, who is getting a max contract... whether you consider him worth it or not. He's worth this deal IMO.

I'm a big fan, but tough to say if the Spurs should match with the uncertainty surrounding a potential Kawhi trade and what they're going to get in return..

He can be a very valuable contributor on a team that fits well around him, but I don't think this is the team, they haven't figured out a way to properly utilize his offense IMO..I also hate the fit with Murray in the SL, as well, along with the Spurs overall need for shooting..

He'll be great for Memphis if the Spurs don't match, though, expecting a breakout season..

Because truely good 3 point shooters in the NBA aren't very common. Defensive players who can't shoot are far more common than good 3 point shooters. Good defenders who can't shoot don't really see the court because they kill spacing in a league where spacing is the most important thing right now.

Early in the season? Sure. In one season. When it came to the playoffs, Forbes suffered from the same thing that Kyle Anderson did. Shriveled nuts.

Maybe Memphis can sign him too. Lets not act like Patty Mills doesn't have a much longer record of being a great shooter while Forbes has a record of mumbling to himself after missing the shots he supposedly is good at.

I never expected that. If Kyle wasn't scared of open shots and could hit some I'd gladly pay him more than 9 million a season to remain a Spur. But he can't, so not only do I not want to pay him more than 9 million, I don't want to pay him 9 million a season.
