Who do the Spurs get to replace Kyle?
I don't see the Diaw comparison outside of just being unselfish Spurs..
I think Anderson definitely needs to be a PF-first to unlock his offensive potential IMO..I can't really think of a comparison for him, don't really think there is on, considering his unique traits(particularly his forehead and slow speed)..
IIRC, when I put his numbers in my database, the most similar statistical comparisons of his past season were Kirilenko and Anthony Mason

A hybrid of an old washed up player and a dead guy? Makes sense.
Shooting is becoming saturated across every position. Its not as valuable as it once was. Its much easier to find sheer shooting. Versatility on offense, versatility on D are two skills that are more valuable. Also perimeter defense is more valuable imo.
The only reason Mills got that dumbass deal is because Pop & RC, not only overvalued culture and undervalued their own prospects ( DeJounte, Derrick, Forbes), but they also misread the market early in summer of 17'. They used the summer of 16' to gauge Mills' deal -- which was when all the dumb teams set millions on fire w the Mosgov, Deng, Parsons, Delly, Noah, Gasol deald.
Lol 50 million for streaky shooting.

Is $9 million starter/6th man money? If he's capable at either of those two roles then that is dirt cheap when considering the cap is $101 million and is supposed to jump to $109 and $116 million in year 2 and 3 of this deal.
It's more than I expected but not an outlandish deal.
SAS is going to match. Why:
The Belinelli deal makes us hard capped (because of the exception we used). The Spurs have $105 million in salary (including Beli, but not our RFAs) and are ~$20 million below the hard-cap threshold.
We have 2 exceptions left to use: $2.7M (leftover from the room midlevel used to sign Beli) and $3.4 million (biannual). Other than that we can sign Vet Min deals, first round picks, and our RFA's (Bertans, Forbes and Kyle).

Belinelli, White, Walker, Paul
DJ, Mills
10 bodies (if they keep Paul) and 2 maybes. 15 roster spots. We have space to match Kyle and we would be trying to find a replacement for less than $3.5 M annually. It makes too much sense to match...

A good way to look at it. It’s really a 3 year / $28mm deal heading into next offseason, which will be moveable worst case. The only reason not to is if the Spurs plan on making a huge push in FA next year, which would also mean moving Mills and Gasol.
Now if they think they can replace him cheap then do it by all means.
One good reason not to match is that last year it killed us having two starters (Murray and Kyle) that flat out could not shoot. Now I don't think Murray is going anywhere at least as of right now, so that leaves Kyle the odd man out. Plus it's not like the other starters were great 3 point shooters (Mills/Green were blah, Aldridge shoots them low volume.) There's a good chance Murray/Mills/Green/Aldridge are in the starting lineup again so I think it's going to continue to kill the offense if we trot out Kyle as well. I think on a good team with shooters Kyle makes the team better and is good at what he does. But with us I'm not sure how he fits.
If Kawhi leaves make Kyle the point-forward and see how far you can get.

Spurs would be fools to match. Let him walk and bring over Milutinov and any other Euro small forwards they can.
Kyle Anderson is garbage.
Anderson is not a starter he is a decent bench player but nothing special if he was not drafted by the Spurs he would probably not be in the NBA tbh. But I wish him the best at this point I am pretty sure Metu or Livio will take his place.
You've heard of the "seven seconds or less" offense (SSOL)? Grizz are building the "seven points or less" per quarter offense.
I would rather sign Nikola and Metu or Livio get two players with some upside and fits with Kawhi leaving then Anderson who would be a decent player with Golden State or Houston as he wouldn’t need to shoot
You realize those offenses thrive by having shooters all around the floor, right?
Houston took it to an extreme, with only Capella, Black and Nene (of players with 100+ MP) NOT taking at least 40% of their FGA from deep. And of those guys, almost everyone shot it above 35% from deep besides the ageless Joe Johnson and Bobby Brown.
The Warriors are in a similar boat. Livingston is one of their few non-centers who doesn’t shoot threes but takes plenty of shots from midrange and close. The only other non-big without a high 3pt attempted % was Casspi who got cut.
