The "All-Star" may have been Lebron too, by the way. Pop supposedly wanted to meet with James, and that first meeting with Leonard was before the draft. The Cavs and Spurs (and possibly third teams) may have had something centered around Gasol, Green. Murray and 18 for James. James may not have agreed to opt in without Kawhi's assurances he'd stay, and Lebron's contract going forward would be large enough to where I could see PATFO wanting to negotiate a small extension to make room. I really hope that's not the case and they'd let Dennis sabotage it. Even doing that trade and just having them for a year would have been worth it.

Why not? He supposedly REALLY wants to play with Leonard, and letting Pop coach him is probably on the bucket list. The timing on how everything went down leaves room for this to have been the case.

Have you seen all the media buzz of Lebron and LA. The decision for Lebron to go to LA was made up a while ago. Leaks of his son committing to a prep school in LA. Kawhi seemingly only wanting Lakers. Lebron wanted him in LA and so did Kawhi's group. Only thing that held it up was SA. Good for them. Let's be honest SA culturally and marketing wise made no sense for Lebron. He plans to be an actor and politician in the democratic realm.
It's interesting snake's group haven't yet hit back after that podcast, they've been surprisingly quiet.
They refuted part of it through Jalen Rose the next day. But they haven't really said much besides that.

With this and the lawsuit out now. I'm pretty sure they will stop acting like reactionary idiots and start to work with the Spurs on finding a suitable trade partner. The quieter it is the better for them. Best pr move they have done so far tbh.

Carter didn't refute the story, he tried to explain it away and did a horrible job. Essentially his take was: "Team paying player $20 million dollars to sit because of injury must give player advance notice before coming to watch him shoot baskets in a gym and train when they want to see how his recovery is going." That's a pretty dumb argument.
DeRozan for Kawhi plus draft pick makes perfect sense. Spurs stay in the mix. Leonard gets shipped to the farthest place from LA with high taxes. Murray, White, Derozan, Gay, Aldridge. That's enough for the Spurs to compete. Relying on the free agent market has not been Spurs mo.
Could possibly unload Pau in this deal. Maybe get back valucianis. Lots of possibilities.

You can only win this game with shooting. That team has zero shooting ability at all.
Derozan can shoot the corner 3 well. He will get a tone of those for the Spurs. He also has a great long mid range and great length. At first it looks bad but the Sours may not do better. Fultz, Ingram&Kuzma, and Tatum may still be off the table. Raptors may want to rebuild. If they lose Leonard they are fine with it. I see them moving Lowry too if this happens. Popovich will have the most talented teams he has had here since 2014. Marco, Gay, White, Mills, Derozan, Aldridge , plus another piece in the trade?
