I'd be down with that--just seems insane for him to not have already signed.
what are the spurs waiting on before withdrawing their QO?

Could be included in a trade.
I mean, Gasol did the Spurs a massive favor which is why he got a bad contract, but even his bad contract is up before Ryan Anderson’s functionally![]()
Nice. Me rikey.
Houston basically had a single year window of contention. They blew it.

That is what overrated and overpaid really looks like to me.
There are different degrees of overpaying.
To some degrees at any given point a roleplayer can be overpaid. For example, Danny's deal was great initially, as he got older, it doesn't look so good. The Spurs have also tried to move him without success... but he still produces so he's not hugely overpaid. Difficult to make a claim about roleplayers in small deals if they are playing... a lot if will be up to your subjective evaluation... but Guys who are on massive contracts become albatrosses, and guys in smaller contracts but who aren't giving you zilch are evidently overpaid, like Boban's deal for a human victory cigar...
Despite taking the Warriors to seven games, they still somehow got outscored by the Warriors than each of the Spurs, Pelicans and Cavs (who got swept).
They really did blow it. Their wing defensive depth is all gone and the Warriors will run the score up on them. At least they still have Tucker. That Anderson contract is so damn bad.

Cavaliers had a group in this morning to see workout of UFA @TreBall21, per league sources. Cleveland has strong interest; Minnesota in as well. Hornets did not give Graham a QO in June, making him unrestricted. Good 3 and D wing potential.

GM Koby Altman and assistant GM Mike Gansey among the Cavs’ contingent that saw Graham work out in Vegas.

the spin is in full force in Houston
Probably the only team that could offer something near to what he thinks he's worth...anything more to 12 millions per year for four years anfd I yhink Celtics won't match...
Sacramento just need what Smart provides...strenght, energy, will to fight on avery 50/50 ball, winning at ude...qualities I would like someone take on the Spurs...that could be a leader.
Their window is still open for 2 more seasons if they get their Center back. But with Warriors so far in front, their only chance is in 2020. And that is if Warriors break up. Very high chance Durant leaves, Cousins leaves. And then Klay is a free agent.
To where is Durant most likely leaving?
If Marcus Smart is smart, he would choose the Spurs
Knicks or Wizards is my guess. He didn't sign a max. He took a 2-year player opt out. Not even a 2 year with no option, which meant he didn't even take a 2-year max. Reading between the lines and it's very obvious he isn't fitting into the team as a person, winning isn't everything etc. He will get the 3pet, and take playoff basketball as the leader, ie Knicks and start setting up for the future after basketball, all while being the man, racking up points, leaderboards and records.

Sacramento need another poor shooter like a shot in the head. Guess it means they'll definitely offer Smart $20 mil per.
Wohoooooo!!!
Ok. I think it’s probably a cheap deal. So long as he’s not played as a wing on tall players he should be fine. I used to like his scoring ability a lot. He was just placed in a lot of situations he was overmatched, undersized and played too many minutes. I think in a role more adequate and with added experience he will be better. I wish him a good season. It will be interesting to see his deal. I expect it to be close to what his QO was.
Maybe re-signing Forbes is a sign that the Spurs are trying to trade Mills? I'm grasping at straws here.
