They had a pitch to George, or at least there was some 'poem' floating around that they wrote him. So humiliating.

I was stunned to see them sign McGee and Stephenson and Rondo. What the is this team? If you're punting to next year, you're creating a really weird team environment. I don't know what they're showing their young players, and not just because Rondo is basically a better Lonzo and stuff like that. For years this team has been adrift and now they're trying to patch it over with FA signings. That never works if you don't have a team culture.
And the media will be crushing them every damn game. Every single one.

Pelinks got the giant hands over Lebron?
    dizamn.
Palinka's like 6'6 too. Plus his hand is closer to the camera so it appears bigger.

pretty sure his contract just tolls, or some equivalent. spurs would retain his rights the following season
So there's virtually no chance that he sits again then..should give the Spurs a ton of leverage vs. his group, in regards to opening up possibilities to join other teams..

The problem will be getting those teams to actually believe in Kawhi's change of heart

Spurs might be booty too depending on what happens with Kawhi tbh.
Spurs basically made the playoffs without Kawhi last year, I like the chances of it happening again.

Keep Kawhi. Go into the season.
    Make people squirm.
Show whether he's ready to play, or not.

Watch the Lakers go barely above .500 and the pressure it brings.

Watch it all unfold and then things will come to the Spurs.

Everybody saying they want this to end don't know how to run .
    Patience is key.
    This is very possible.

And by going all in on their “young” core I don’t mean just around Lebron. If one of them gets injured? Now their trade chances are doomed. If they don’t make a big leap and don’t progress? Their value is suppressed.

I mean, Ingram could blossom and along with the others, but that is the gamble.

Let's just be honest here... The guy to the left of Lebron was nervous.
    Whitey gots huge hands!

That is the issue. You have multiple people who seemingly have ties to Kawhi’s camp saying that PHI has a legit shot to keep Kawhi and they still won’t offer Fultz?

No one trusts Kawhi or his group. They thought his star power would be enough to overcome the bs moves they pulled but so far they are not.

He will then be unable to walk away the year after. The Spurs would retain his rights. He also no longer would be eligible for the superman. He can only walk next year if he fulfills his contract this year with the Spurs unless we trade him.

Can somebody clarify what happens if Kawhi sits out without a medical reason? I heard that he loses eligibility for free agency or something along those lines..

    What's the actual rule?

    This is very possible.
If Pop is Pop and left to do his thing... This is what I see happening.
Nobody forces Pop to do things on their time.

Why not drag Kawhi into camp?
Why not force him into dealing with the Coach of Team USA?

Why not? It's not like the deals are getting worse.

I get it. There is zero rush and the pressure is on Kawhi, his psyche and his Uncle to deal with this conflagration of events.

    Keep them. Deal with it.
    (with the shades going down...)

agree w/ DPG...Lakerfan has always overrated their young players. and tbh i'm surprised they're so high on guys like Kuzma (who seriously is garbage, if he played in any other city no one would even know who he is) and Ingram who has shown little growth thus far. Laker teams are bought not built

but i really hope spurs don't trade with them at all just because i personally think all of their young players minus Lonzo are complete , and i would never want lonzo because of his dad unfortunately

The Spurs can either trade Kawhi to the Lakers or they can watch him sign there while SA gets nothing in 12 months.

If there was another deal to be made out there, it would have been done. Boston/Philly/whoever would want KL in tow so they could see his condition and start building around him. It's not happening. No bidding war. No agents from Bos/Phi players leaking demands or denials. Nothing.

My assumption is that the Spurs are giving KL the "Kobe 2007" treatment where the Lakers just strung him along until he dropped his trade demands, but that was a different situation. Kobe wanted a FO change and basically got the owner to come out of retirement and take back the reins. Kawhi wants PATFO to die.

    Spurs need to face facts.

thats my point. he'll just get a doc to say he's not healthy enough to play. it's hard to prove tbh. if he just keeps saying it still hurts then what are we really going to do?

Gotta love how the idea of a "franchise player" sitting out entire seasons with a fake injury has become a normalized discourse..

Going from Tim Duncan to this piece of is such sick joke..

Spurs have no reason to trade him until Trade deadline. So his camp is crying doing everything they can to put pressure on Spurs and make them look bad. He is still under contract for 1 more NBA season with Spurs.

You keep him see if he shows up to play and try and make things right again. Spurs have no pressure, he doesn't need to be traded until the deadline in Feb.

I think since he is still a Spurs I sense that is probably the direction the Spurs are headed, keep him on the roster and see if things improve.

If Spurs should be trying to trade a player it's Mills.

Nah... the Spurs can file an investigation and then things just gets worse for Denny's and his franchise.
