There's no reason for anyone to play since the trade is already a done deal, right?
This sounds like a Nostradamus Quatrain

Contracts and misspellings arise from the Claw supporter.
Signed in the air on the way to a city in the west
    He will play again somewhere
But not until the aunt is focked by the done dealer

I heard Kawhi's uncle will not release the medical info until they receive the max offer.
How lucky are we to have so many Spurs insiders posting in the forum.

It makes a ton of sense to just extend him (not for the supermax) and find a trade partner thereafter. The Spurs close on him on a discount and all apprehensions about a one-year rental and being non-committal all vanish, eradicating all leverage other teams might have. It all then comes down to his health, something a few games can solve, given Pachulia’s not out there anymore (hopefully). As it stands other GMs think they can strike now because they can get pennies on the dollar. The front office might not be adept at maintaining modern stars but they aren’t dumb.
He has to agree to an extension. That isn't happening given the current state of relations.

They don't have to take any return. Just hold onto him and make him play out next season if he doesn't help the Spurs out.
Yeah I know but it’s difficult to believe the Spurs will want that distraction so I feel like they’ll take a deal.

This. Spurs cannot possibly think there will be a good outcome, good locker room or good culture with Kawhi publicly divorcing himself from the team.
He’s done it for a season. Team barely made the playoffs but is probably better equipped to handle divas like him this time around. Spurs called for offers, decided nothing was good enough, and that’s it. He’s still under contract, not a Sixer, a Celtic, and definitely not a Laker. Everything else is just white noise.

The Spurs have the leisure of at least this season to assess and reevaluate their options. Nothing is final until it is. The Lakers can keep holding on to their unproven young talent for the meantime since the team places a lot of stock on them anyway.

    Spurs get:

    Covington
    Fultz
    Saric
    Philly first
    Miami 2021 pick

    Sixers get:

    Kawhi
    RC Buford

    Yeah, that works for me!

Yea was about to post this. Shocked at how many are okay with trading Kawhi for Saric & Covington and a couple picks. It's not.
ya concur with you all. Keep Kawhi if that's the best you can get back. the article alludes to Spurs not liking Covingstons contract, surely its the players too.

The spurs cant trade him just for the sake of trading him. Sometimes you have to take a loss or be resigned to just let it go.

Thats like being stood up the night of prom by the prettiest girl in school. You arent going to save face or replace her by making a rash knee jerk reaction and hiring a 50 dollar hooker to be your date. You just sit it out and chalk it up as a loss while walking away with the little bit of dignity you still have.
first the 500 pound chick or porn, then the prettiest girl in school or a hooker.
    Interesting analogies

I see Spurs putting, July 16th, on the table, an offer of 190 millions for five years. No trade clauses. No player options. one week to sign it and agree.
And on the other end, the perspective of a Toronto trade to make the last minute at the deadline. That means his last year will be one where he will see the real difference between Texas taxes and Toronto/California taxes.
No way his group re-up with Raptors, considering how greedy uncle Dennis has shown to be. So they lose the 80 millions plus taxes and put the healthy pressure on their side for the rest of the year till they find a new contract...

Haha. Im trying to use absurd examples. It is fitting though. This has all been so absurd as far as how it has played out. I know it hurts the franchise i love, but an example needs to be set. Principle should dictate how this plays out on the spurs end. It might be a jerry macguire moment, but sometimes you got to go out on a limb and take a stand.

They cave and trade him for a hot steaming pile of crap and i am finding a new franchise to follow. Why? Principle.

I don't get the 'trade him for anything' over lose him for nothing mindset. It's clear no ones wants to give too much for a headcase with an amateur agent, so what's the point in getting b and c level talent and late picks? Chicago traded Butler for Lavine and are now paying him $20 mil because they couldn't lose the main asset they received?

There's more value in keeping him and playing him and winning games and then letting him walk if he wants. Let's see if he'd really leave all that money just to get out. And if he doesn't play there's a lawsuit coming up and Silver will intervene, so I don't see how his group would dare to do it.

Exactly. Have been saying this. Why trade for contracts and players thats were not targets before? Letting him walk is better than fultz ingram and whatever other crap la has

Parking here in downtown Vancouver is $11-$18 for every 2 hours.
Parking here in NY is more than some of your guys’ rent down in Texas. Nobody owns cars unless money literally doesn’t matter, or you live in public housing where they give you free parking too. Subways and taxi/Uber gets you everywhere, and you just rent cars on the weekend when you need to.

the sixers are desperate, they have no chance to win boston with irving and hayward

RC and Pop can not trade a top 3 in the league for role players

SA does not need more role players

fultz started playing in the playoffs and mysteriously disappeared then this proposal by the sixers is trash, enough

Fultz played in as many playoff games as Derrick White and hit 1/3 the number of shots as White on more attempts than White.

I do think Fultz will turn out okay, as he’s super young. But the Spurs in negotiations need to be hammering home the fact that the #1 pick couldn’t see the court in round 2. He’s also making over $22 million in years 3 and 4 ... year 2 is irrelevant at this point, which is more annual money than the Kyle Anderson deal the Spurs declined to match. Those high salary numbers have to count against his value, as does his insane QO in year 5 at over $15 million.

Having the #1 pick is great if it hits. It’s also expensive. For comparison, the #3 pick he was dealt for is about $4-$4.5 million cheaper over years 3 and 4.

Same negotiation tactic needs to take hold with the Lakers on Ball and Ingram. They’re not cheap prospects like Kawhi was at one point, or Mitc is, or Greek Freak was, or how Kuzma (ugh) is. These early first rounders are damn expensive.

Exactly. Been saying this. Kawhi is a top 5 player in the league. You don't trade him for role players. You have to receive at the very least an All Star player in return.
