I think that is the point he is trying to make.

Both Kawhi and Iggy won their FMVPs largely for "locking down" LeBron, not carrying the team. And LeBrons still scored 28+ PPG against the Spurs.

That was my point. You don't have to carry a team to win the FMVP.

But it was more about the situation that got Iggy the FMVP. It wasn’t just guarding Lebron. Don’t forget that Warriors were down in the series and then they inserted Iggy into the starting lineup and after that they didn’t lose a game. That storyline played a bigger part in him winning it, imo.

This isn't about Iggy. It's about the fact that the FMVP doesn't make Kawhi into MJ. It's a "best player of the series" award. Danny Green or Gary Neal would have won it if the Spurs didn't the bed in 2013. He's got some big accolades but FMVP isn't the biggest, that would be the 2 1st team awards and the 2 DPOY awards neck and neck with that, maybe back just a bit. AS game appearances are probably last.

I rarely hear people mention the 1st team all NBA awards. That's what says he's worth it, not the one series where he woke up and played good on a team that was playing out of its mind. But he's only worth it if he's going to produce for you. He's indicated he isn't going to. Why send that message to your team and other prospective players that being a diva gets you paid?

I actually didn’t read you guy’s conversation at all. I just wanted to say that when I saw that specific post. I didn’t know who it was about. So no clue if what I said even fit into the conversation but that was just my opinion on why he won it that year. I know what a FMVP award is given for. But carry on.
