I think Croatia is ed, Pitana Is gonna let France be physical, and that is exactly France's strength. It maybe their only strength, i missed a couple of their gamed but iirc all their goals came from dead balls/ runs in space/rebounds, in other words from pressure and physical superiority. For all the criticism teams like England and Argentina get for having poor midfield / bad service for the forwards, France is just as bad. They just get their goals from other places.

Disagree. With Cavani out, Uruguay was very bare on offense. That will not be the case for Croatia; they have more options. However, their defense is not comparable to Uruguay's defense, which is top in the world.

I don't know about the physicality tbh, Croatia manhandled England and Nigeria (two physical teams) and France doesn't look like Russia from a mental standpoint. Tbh I'm curious to see how the ref whistles. If he lets the game get physical but starts with the cute calls on Griezmann/Pogba then Croatia are ed. Agree about France having poor service but disagree about poor midfield, France has excellent pressing (high and low) midfield and they'll get the ball back quick, which you definitely can't say about Argentina or England. France get their goals from dead balls, mistakes (forced by pressure) and counters. Given the collective IQ of France's midfield I'd say that's the best possible and I applaud Deschamps for not trying to be too cute with his roster.
That 06 France team was stacked as tbh, better than the one today in all metrics. 06 world cup was stacked in general, I am almost certain that any of the top 5-6 in 06 (Italy, France, Brasil, Germany, Portugal, Netherlands) would be massive favorites today. I don't think Croatia has Uruguay's defensive strength, especially on dead balls. That's why I'm heavily leaning towards France winning, they are just a bad matchup for Croatia.
