MLB All Star Game event "Favorable"

Ok I a admit, you put a of a spin on your curveball breh. Not bad.

Basebally dying gotta throw some spins now to help them COPE.

NBA along with NFL is significantly higher than MLB in todays social media metrics. Which is really the benchmark of true popularity in todays age.

No one even ing knows who Bryce Harper is meanwhile the average household probably knows the scrub JR smith.

This was a national wide poll. Oh, here's the poll that asks overall fandom from that gallup poll you always like to post.

This correlates strongly with the poll I just posted. 51 percent of Americans call themselves baseball fans and baseball posted a 52% favorability rating. 25% favorability rating for ML correlates to the 25% from your Gallup poll. Time to take a big fat L on this one. Baseball being about star power. Like all good sports, teams are followed over players. No one cares about what Mike Trout had for lunch like knuckle-dragging NBA fans care about Lebron's every move.

Didnt you say Soccer is nowhere near top 4? Your Graph shows its neck and neck with NHL.

You gotta be a little bit more consistent

It isn't. Polls don't tell the whole story. If I was polled about liking tennis, I would say yes, since I appreciate the sport, but haven't watched a full match since Fed/Nadal some 10 years ago. I'm sure a bunch of soccer moms respond, "yes, I'm a soccer fan," because they're fans of watching their little Jimmy run around aimlessly on the weekend, but likely never watch an actual soccer game on television. MLS ratings are abysmal, getting outdrawn by the in' WNBA. EPL ratings don't fare much better. No professional soccer match has even come close to doing what the Stanley Cup Finals draw. World Cup ratings are always solid, but people watch for the event, not necessarily because they're avid soccer fans. Just like the Olympics.

When the MLS Cup can draw 5-7 million, then I'll say soccer has arrived as a "Big 5" sport here. If you factor in individual sports, Soccer is 7th or 8th here on the pecking order.

Let's put the MLS in context (and soccer popularity overall here).

Additionally, 2017 tied 2013 as the LPGA Tour’s most-watched year across NBC Sports since 2011. Coverage drew an average of 221,000 viewers per telecast in 2017 (+24% vs. 2016), according to data released by The Nielsen Company.
The MLS averaged 285K per match in 2017. Soccer across all levels (from MLS, Liga MX, to International soccer matches) averaged 345K per match. And MLS (and pro soccer in general) has an "event" nature to the games, only playing some 30 games per season. Those ratings are dreadful for a sport with soccer's season structure. Soccer isn't much more relevant than women's golf here .

Anyone can say they follow and are fans of anything. Proves nothing. What "proves" popularity/relevance in this case is what people will take the time to watch on tv. Professional soccer and non-World Cup international matches don't draw flies here. Sorry. We're a casual soccer nation who enjoys the World Cup every four years. That's it. Then it's back to our following our domestic sports.

The most recent MLS Cup final drew 800K on television. The most recent women's golf major final round drew 1.1 million

    "MLS is taking over, brahs."

NBA is suffering because of the hideous lack of parity that has gone on way, way too long. MLB is suffering because its fanbase is like the GOP, made up too largely of old retired cigarette and pipe smokers who are gradually dying off. NFL is suffering because Goodell continues to pussify the game like the pussy he is. NHL sucks because lol hockie.

It's not just because the Spurs are but that's why Spurs fan think it's .

It's because there is no reason to watch the regular season except to see beatdowns. You might as well watch Youtube videos of cheaters using scripts on GTA V.

It's a myth the MLB's fanbase is old. The "data" for that percentage was pulled from ESPN broadcasts. MLB fans typically watch their teams on the local cable station.

One single player has more impact on an NBA team than a single player in baseball. Only starting 5 players in the NBA one player has almost double the impact of a baseball player. And starting pitchers only play every 4 or 5 games.

Football plays only last seconds more time getting off the ground and lining up. Sometimes Clock is going when there is no play going on.

Basketball will be bringing the thug defense back lead by the Lakers. There's gonna be a whole lot of crying with any team that plays smack down rising up the rankings.
