While it's disappointing it had to end like this I'm glad the Spurs can now put this all behind them and focus on the upcoming season.

Pop was not going to rebuild. I'm fine with being a 50 plus win team for the next few years even if there is no chance of beating the Warriors. Derozan allows the Spurs to be compe ive while developing younger players like Walker,White,Murray etc. Spurs are pretty much in a situation similar to what they were in from '08-'11. They have to develop young players and hope that one of them can turn into a star like what happened with Kawhi.

Guy has never played under 60 games his entire career, never had a coach like Pop, and hopefully doesn’t have an entourage like Kawhi’s. I can’t say I’ll take it because the Spurs already did. I don’t know why the Spurs did it but I’m personally content with knowing why later on. The front office has made some questionable calls the past few years but (a) they’ve always managed to put together a team that cracked the playoffs at the very least and (b) there isn’t anything I can do about it. Seems like the front office wants to remain in contention for the playoffs and none of the previous offers were good enough for the front office’s vision for the team. I can live with that.
