For the greatness that is Tobias Harris? Better a "homer" than stupid.
No it won't be the Spurs if it falls 1-20

For the greatness that is DeMar DeRozan?![]()
They tanked when they got Duncan.
You are forgetting 12 and 13.
Always been the Front Office Homer of the site.
Those three do not guarantee you player that finished 8 in mvp candidate
While Kawhi going to Toronto is funny, picking Craptors trade over Clipper's was a mistake, both long & short term imo.
I think you two have been arguing online for 15+ years, right?
You can still flip him for 3 picks later
Uncle Dennis ed the Spurs organization when he demanded LA or nothing. Uncle Dennis ed the Spurs organization when he said Kawhi would sit out in most trade situations rather than play. Uncle Dennis ed the Spurs organization when he had his nephew pretend to be hurt rather than help the team paying him $21,000,000.00 make a run in the playoffs.
I was convinced the Spurs were getting nothing for Kawhi, which would have been fine, too. Pop ships Kawhi off about as far away from Los Angeles as he could get him...out of the country to be exact. I'd say it's a big FU to Uncle Dennis, and I couldn't be more pleased.
I am reminded of Terrence an Phillips singing uncle er thinking about the Nephew an the new home he resides in now
And people got mad at me for Harris/Harrell S&T/2021 + 2023 unprotected first round picks. Or even Harris/Harrell S&T/Jerome Robison.
LOL.
Yes. This trade was the best combination of talent, youth, a pick, and the Eff You equity of sending Uncle Dennis to freeze his ass off in Toronto.
Porter may never play basketball again. Poeltl is more of a sure thing than Bridges at this point.
I've said multiple times the trade offers from LAL, LAC and PHI were trash dating back to before the draft.
But he says bridges will be all star in 5 years![]()
Raptors had what, pick 29 already?
Pick 29 or 30 in a bad draft next year ... Just a joke.
Thanks. That sucks then, I thought if it falls between 1-20 it will be ours. Ugh.
Nice forum. I usually just lurk. Some were driven into a frenzy by media reports gleaned from leaks the various teams were putting out. Nobody was stupid enough to bite and the Spurs got the best deal possible. Better than the Raptors is my guess. But time will tell.
There was lots of bovine waste reported as fact. Spun by the various parties. I think that if the 76'ers actually believed they could sign Leonard they would have given up Fultz in a nanosecond. But why use up that head fake on a 1 year rental? He has a better chance of being the next Kwame Brown than an elite player IMO. Again. Time will tell.
Karl Kuzma was untouchable over Brandon Ingram? Nice try Magic. I think the so-called "Godfather Deal" was Kuzma, Hart and Randle.
The same Kawhi who, through his mouthpieces, supposedly complained about the Spurs desirability to major FA's suddenly was intimidated by the thought of being overshadowed by LeBron? Nice try Kawhi's team. He's going to the Lakers in 2019.
The Spurs never had leverage. Leonard took that away by declaring that it was LA or bust. LeBron ground what was left of it to dust by signing a multi-year deal with the Lakers.
Kawhi didn't set any precedence. It was unorthodox. Unprofessional. But it isn't any different than what Abdul-Jabbar did before FA even existed. And what Rick Barry did when he didn't want to play in Virginia for the Squires. Or Kobe telling all other NBA teams he'd go to college if it was anybody but the Lakers. So the Hornets drafted him in exchange for Divac. Players have more money and more power now. And the CBA that was supposed to curtail the Lakers, Celtics and now Golden State can't stop it. In fact the perception of how the Raptors did DD is going to accelerate it.
People forget the Spurs traded someone who pretty much hasn't played in over a year plus a declining 3pt shooter and defender for a prime all start player and a development big plus 1 or 2 draft picks that will materialize in less than a year.
Beginning with the fact that they played with one less player last year this sounds like a good deal and probably the only one available if you want to win now.
None of the other teams wanted to play ball but Toronto (for their own reasons including offloading their best player) did.
I'd admit for a moment there I thought the Spurs weren't going to get anything out of this. Possibly not even able to trade away this year and lose all value in less than 12 months.
Most people in this site don't have a clue about basketball or how the world works.
At least Tobias can make threes. DeMar is an antiquated one-dimensional chucker straight out of the '90s with a terrible contract. There's a reason why Toronto was eager to trade him.
Lol. He's about $18MM less than Kawhi's supermax amount and he's signed for the next three years...
Plus he's a loyal, Spursian type player.
And while he's not the same top end talent Kawhi is, he's certainly not $18MM worse by any means. Plus he doesn't come with Uncle and Impact Sports and Cris Carter baggage.
I like this trade more and more by the second. Especially since we got a late 1st round pick, and our center of the future (a former #9 pick out of it).
It's a ing win. All day long. And twice on Sundays.
But had the spurs made the trade with the Clippers then you would be on board that it would have been a good trade. You always convince yourself that whatever the spurs do is the right decision. That is what a homer does. No, Miles Bridges is way better than Poeltl. This years draft was way deeper with talent. And Porter is expected back next year. Don't be a scared wimp by not drafting him. Porter will be a franchise changing player and better than anyone else that you could get at 13 had you had both the 12th and 13th picks. Don't be so conservative and the conservative fearful move is to not draft Porter.
Draft year after draft year, people project rookies as sometime future superstars that end up as role players or having careers in Europe. The Spurs play to win now, as every team should. Those teams that play for the future are always playing for the future.
And still not worth the money he's making.
