Officers think several Russians were involved in the attempted murder of the former double agent and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury and are looking for more than one suspect,

Except in that article it says they are unsure if they are Russian... Also cctv is a very different tech than modern hd surveilance cams, iirc cctv max resolution is barely higher than 640x480, highly doubtful that is of any use for facial recognition

Yup cctv is crap thus facial recognition is not really believable

look im not gonna pretend to be an expert in cameras, but about 4 years back i had to install a camera system in a business I own and I set out asking for a CCTV system, and the company told me that CCTV was the old analog system that used coaxial cable and that the new HD digital ones use RJ45 or wifi because coaxial lacks the bandwidth for higher resolution, in spanish they simply called them webcams maybe its a semantics issue but for me when I hear CCTV i associate with those old systems, not the new ones. either way no matter what camera or facial recognition system, correlating that image with a persons nationality is another tech/information system altogether.

Sergei Skripal’s home and a house belonging to a police officer poisoned in the Salisbury nerve agent attack will be bought by taxpayers in a £1m deal that also includes cars and other family possessions.

The novichok used in the failed attempt to assassinate the former Russian spy and his daughter, Yulia, caused widespread contamination and made both houses uninhabitable. The victims’ possessions were also contaminated.
