I said it was overly optimistic, not crazy super homerish. There are varying degrees of possible. Possible doesn’t mean likely.
I believe the Spurs making the playoffs is a coin flip. Either is possible. Either roughly about equally likely. Neither outcome would surprise me in the least. The Spurs winning 50+ games (and remember it really started with the 52-55 win total) to me is unlikely. Still possible, but it would surprise me some if they won 50+. It would surprise me considerably more if they won 55+ games.
Anything is possible. Being confident in something I consider unlikely is overly optimistic. Not crazy. Not super homerish. Not crazy super homerish. Simply overly optimistic.
Let me rephrase it: I don't consider the Spurs winning around 50 games (for example 52 games) being something "overly" optimistic, tbh. I think it is more or less what you can expect.
Like some had already said I think the most likely scenario is for the Spurs' win number to be anywhere between 47 to 52 games.
55? I'm your huckleberry
I am serioulsy pumped to watch Dallas this year. I am a massive Doncic fan and he’s going to be amazing. Mavs should be fun.
You’re trying to change my opinion. But we have different opinions.
The Spurs winning something like 52 games being what you can more or less expect is YOUR opinion.
Spurs fan being confident in a 50+ win season being overly optimistic is MY opinion.
What exactly are you trying to argue? That one “opinion” is more factually reasonable than the other? You can’t. They’re both just opinions. My “opinion” is not unreasonable. Neither is yours. I just don’t agree with yours. And nothing you’ve offered or argued makes your opinion more reasonable than mine. So at this point, not sure what else there is to say...
I'm arguing your opinion. You know, what one usually does on message boards.
When Yogi Ferrell ghosts you, you've been ghosted.
You haven’t argued anything that makes your opinion more reasonable or more reasonably likely.
You haven’t offered anything that suggests my opinion is unreasonable.
Your post previous to this one I just quoted didn’t even offer anything but restating what the opinions were.
The first thing I did on this thread was disproving a statement you made with a pure fact.
Then, I gave my reasons as to why I don't agree with your statement that expecting the Spurs to win over 50 games was overly optimistic; you gave yours. That's what you do on a message board. These type of arguments don't have definite answers untill we see what happens.
Maybe a way to determine if the opinion that the Spurs winning 50 games is "overly optimistic" in the general view is by looking at the Spurs over/under number of expected wins for the upcoming season, but I don't know where do you find that.
