What has ed rural America when it comes to health care is the closing of rural hospitals, which are all money losers.

Seems like the only solution to that is to subsidize it.

Pick a free market solution for that. I'll wait.
Big insurance, big medicine, and big malpractice suits, have killed independent prac ioners in the US.

Direct primary care is one solution:

Keeping his costs low helped Lassey break even within four months of opening his practice. Still, he's not earning as much as he used to when he worked at a hospital and had only five to 10 minutes with a patient — a lot less time than he gets to spend with his patients now.

"I am making a profit, I have more free time, and I can practice properly," he said. "It's worth it to me."

Others, like Dr. M. Chad Williamson in Fort Payne, Alabama, went upscale — he offers his patients a 24-hour gym as part of his practice's $60 monthly membership fee. Williamson, who opened his practice in August, a few months after finishing his residency, currently has 215 members. He wants to bring that up to between 600 and 1,000 people, ideally.

Most people are driving around here an hour to get to a major medical hospital (relatively speaking). Fargo ND and Sioux falls SD are making big money in health care but they are still rural.

Tell me how that raised my premiums up..

Fascism at its finest. So glad we have strong leaders to tell us what we want from our government is not what they want us to do.

Don't see any other word for it.

Feel free to pick a different word, LayzeeBoy.

One leader has decided he wants to ignore the law as decided by his voters, to do what it is he wants, and you clap on cue.

    I'll give you another one.

Fascism. Feel free to about that again.

Bou can't figure out that there is a different side. Thinks there is no ying to the yang. Takes a look at the voting demographics and thinks that everyone not in a Urban, liberal area is racist, idiotic and well,a racist idiot. It couldn't possibly be that the policies that work great for one area the other. How exactly do you think America said no to more status quo politicians? I know, I know. All the racist idiots voted and it had nothing to do with policies that didn't work for them........

"Donna Wall, 61, a plaintiff in the lawsuit, is uninsured. She racked up $60,000 in debt after shattering her ankle when she fell on an icy sidewalk in Lewiston last December while delivering newspapers in the middle of the night, a job that paid her $150 a week.
A GoFundMe.com campaign raised more than $10,000 to help her. But Ms. Wall, who cares full time for her 20-year-old autistic twins and donates blood plasma for extra income, is eager for the security of Medicaid coverage. She applied for it on July 3, a day after the state was supposed to start covering the newly eligible population under the law."

She's definitely doing something wrong...that's two NBA max contracts right there.

How did ACA, eg, expansion of Medicaid hurt rural America?

ACA by status quo pols was intended to help, to "work for" poor rurals, anybody poor, in ALL areas.

(of course, red/slave states refuse to help their own poor, but that's "status quo" Repug/oligarchy politics)

Failure to expand Medicaid by Repugs status quo pols hurt, even shut down, rural hospitals and clinics.

"America said no to more status quo politicians"

Trash lost by 2.8M votes by AMERICANS (but won by Comey and Pootin voting for him).

    America said NO to Trash,

more than America said YES to a fake anti-status quo Trash who gave the status quo swamp monsters (oligarchy) huge powers, with full support by the status quo Repugs voted in perenially by rurals.

It ain't ACA's fault that America has been urbanizing for 100+ years and people left in rural areas are underserved by for-profit providers, made worse by BigCorp status quo oligarchy PAI.

eg, Universal health care and community Internet could vastly improve the lives of rurals, but your status quo Repugs block both

Socialism (eg stuff like Universal Service Fund) could help rurals staying rural, by choice or by stranding, but status quo Repugs freak out at (undefined) socialism (except when it's socialism for BigCorp and the wealthy)

hyper-complex ACA certainly needed adjustments, tuning for hyper-complex America, but status quo Repugs are killing ACA and killing rurals by denying them health care.

Sure. Personally I think it is time to move the country more leftward. We have tried what passes for conservatism, and found it to be universally a vacuous failure.

Ms. Staples, the breast-cancer survivor who attended the oral arguments, works part time in food service at Bowdoin College. She pays $75 a month for subsidized private coverage through the Obamacare marketplace, plus a deductible, but is poor enough to qualify for Medicaid if it were expanded, she said. She gathered hundreds of signatures to help get Medicaid expansion on the ballot last year, then knocked on hundreds of doors to get out the vote as a member of the Maine People’s Alliance, a nonprofit organizing group. It was the first time voters anywhere got to decide the issue, and they approved it 59 percent to 41 percent.

Maybe she should spend some of her time gathering signatures/knocking on doors to get a job that provides better healthcare...Seems to me that she knows exactly how poor she needs to remain in order to get benefits.
If so that's pretty ing intelligent and you cannot say she's lazy if she got out and rustled up enough signatures to get it done. It's a big ass ing (ass ing) wave and people who don't catch a ride on it are just behind it in the trough saying "you took advantage of water!". The wave was coming either way.

Bou talks about intention than spouts off on his opinions. I've stated on another thread rural hospitals that most people use are larger rural cities. I used Sioux falls In my example previously. 186 largest metro area in the United States. Still rural. The excuse of small clinics doesn't apply here. Premiums have sky rocketed. Rural communities don't have large companies to pool together on insurance. If your middle class, your ed. Can't quality for big subsidies on insurance, did that one year then they kicked us off. Every year have been dropping our coverage to lower tiers but premiums stay the same or rise. Couple employees? Forget about it. I've spent a load on infrastructure and equipment the past few years trying to avoid another employee. I'm not in the minority. The biggest jackpot one can get is to get a govt job that overpays and huge benefits. Imagine that. Sounds like a communist/socialist dream.

    "But the intentions of ACA......"

No wonder the Dems can't win outside of the urban areas. No interest in finding out what works and why......

Dems can't win outside of urban areas because rurals are confused to think that Repugs give a (financial) about them. Repugs and their social issues play the rurals like ignorant rubes.

ACA succeeded in its primary objective of expanding access to Ms of people, 30M+ of them Repugs now want to deny them health care.

If you were middle class before ACA, you were ed, not ACA's problem or priority.

Perhaps it could be fixed for those people, but Repugs will hurt them more, very soon, if not already.

Take it up with BigInsurance and the corrupt, greedy, closed-guild medical profession.
