Manu, 99.9999999% of Spurs fans want you back for one more year because you deserve to go out with the applause and grateful thank you's for what you did for the Spurs, the fans and the NBA. It's too damn bad Kawhitter didn't have even one trillionth the heart you have or this story might have ended differently. But, make no mistake we want you back for this coming season. The young guys need you around to learn what it takes to be the kind of winner you've always been.

    I want him back
At the end of the season he said last year he came back expecting a much smaller role, but then Kawhi and other injuries happening
Ours certainly is a flawed roster, but I'm curious to see what they can do with their role players not forced to carry such a big burden on offense
Manu came up big in a lot of crucial moments last year, I wouldn't mind him playing <20 minutes as a spark off the bench, he showed he can still contribute, can help the young guys and help us transitioning from the Big 3/Kawhi era to what we are going to be

Demar and Walker would hugely benefit from a guy like Manu.
Who is our back up SF? Manu fits that perfectly for us.

Belli is a good back sg or even starter.

    Murray/White
    Mills/Belli/Forbes
    Derozan/Manu
    Gay/Bertans/Cunningham
    Aldridge/Poeltl/Gasol

Walker should only come up when players get injured. Manu as an assistant alone would be so valuable not to mention he can still play.

As I see things, White would be the player to suffer the most from Manu's return. He was already unnecessarily buried for a year in the G League. I do not want to see him buried behind Manu for yet another year. If it were merely a choice between Manu and Paul for the last seat on the bench, then I wouldn't mind giving a roster slot to Manu. But it isn't. Manu will take court time away from a guy/guys who might represent the Spurs future. As long as Pop has his crutch, he will lean on it, and not use the young guys to the fullest extent. Thanks, Manu, you are one of my favorite Spurs, but it is time to turn the page. Join the coaching staff formally or informally like Timmy; but don't stay on the active roster.

Especially in crunch time, Pop will not heaitate to insert Manu for old times sake

It really is an indictment on PATFO that there STILL - going into the 2018-2019 season - isn't a player on this team that Pop trusts with the ball in crunch time more than Manu.

Also, I hope Manu doesn't get minutes at SF next year. Literally every wing in the league will abuse him.

manu doesn't need a constant, large amount of carved out PT.

there's no reason he shouldn't come back. this thread should be more concerned with forbes taking up white's / walker's minutes.

unselfish, high bb iq player who doesn't need to rely on physical ability to contribute:

last year his old ass put up a positive TS%, VORP. 3.6 DBPM in the series against the warriors.

    manu was amazing last year.
He even had 7 dunks at age 40, 1 short of tony's career total I cant find stats for gamewinners but I'm sure manu had more this season than some guys in their careers. Overall he was only ok on offense, fatigue and soreness are clearly big problems for his shot. On defense he was great though, when you add his leadership and intangibles and consider his salary, the only argument for not wanting him back is a rebuild/tanking/developing youngsters. If walker and white are the real deal he can sit back and be an assistant coach, Id rather play 41year old manu than hope that forbes or paul are going to be positive contributors...

Considering Manu is still better than two-thirds of the current roster I hope he comes back. As a Spurs fan I can appreciate the value he still brings to the organization. He willed the Spurs to their only playoff win against the Warriors this past playoffs. Not sure why people say he’s done. Tony’s more past his prime than Manu and he just signed a 2/$10M deal. Based on that logic Manu’s probably worth $10M this season.
