Don't forget that ultimately Al Capone went down for tax evasion... prosecutors will charge you for the crimes they have relatively solid evidence on.
Additionally, one shouldn't discount the possibility of Manafort negotiating a plea bargain in the future too, and that also can open a new can of worms.

Rosenstein tasked Mueller to find collusion between Trump and Russia. Steele said Manafort colluded with Russian officials during the election. Mueller has found zero evidence of that and no matter how much longer he looks he won’t find it because it never happened.
