Speaking of Yakuza, I'm still playing Yakuza Kiwami. How was this a budget le? I bought it for $15 at Best Buy in January I think. The game is huge. Not as big as Yakuza 0, but nevertheless there is a lot of content in it.
Yes, it has a japanese audio as a second option. Old controls or new layout, etc.
I haven't played any of the Yakuza games but I have heard some people likening those games with one another.
The first game is slower than the second one where not only does the map get bigger but you can gamble and buy all sorts of . The game also has arcade games within the game too like Hang on, Space Harrier, Outrun, Darts and a ton others.
That's funny, Yakuza 0 has playable Space Harrier, Super Hang On, and Outrun arcade games, and then some Master System game called Fantasy Zone that is also playable. Some kind of shooter or something. You should check Yakuza 0 now that its MSRP has dropped to $20. Yakuza Kiwami has this ridiculous rock-paper-scissors wrestling game called Mesuking with ty women dressed like bugs, it's pretty funny. I think Yakuza 6 has Virtua Fighter 2 as a playable arcade game.

Same. I love both games, but that entire Kowloon section of Shenmue II is just perfection. And that stare down with Lan Di on the roof still gives me chills to this day. The third game better deliver.Oh man I’m gonna play the out of these games.

Actually it was the PAL version too. I forgot they had changed the Japanese voice actor to a female for that release. I wonder which one will be on PS4 if you have Japanese voices on.
shen mue was awesome, I bought an xbox just to play the 2nd part (played the 1st on a friends dreamcast). What I loved about it (aside from the massive scope) was that the combat was very similar to virtua fighter, it was very satisfying to pull off the advanced combos. Im surprised really that there arent more 3rd person adventure/open world games that effectively use that kind of arcade fighter control/combat scheme. Also looking forward to buying the 3rd part

I think it was supposed to be. Ryo is based off Akira Yuki. They look alike and have a few set moves that look the same, if not the same.
Looks like the same move Ryo performs on Don Niu at the end of Shenmue 2.
Sleeping Dogs is the closest thing I can think of. That had a fun combat system with the ability to learn new moves and combos. The storyline was not very memorable though.
Have you played any of the Yakuza games? Yakuza 0 and Kiwami have an RPG system for learning new attacks and combos, and 0 and Kiwami both have pretty cool stories. I have been really wanting to play Shenmue 1 & 2 for a while now but put them off to wait for the remaster. If you have a gaming PC, Yakuza 0 comes to Steam on August 1st for $20 (I think it's $18 to preorder right now). Or if you have PS4 the MSRP has been dropped to $20.

Yeah I played sleeping dogs, it was the right idea but something about the execution was off. Come to think of it, I can't remember now how the camera behaved in Shen mue, I think it went to a fixed kind of side angle for fighting, that probably was the main issue with sleeping dogs that having the camera behind the action isn't ideal for a fighting game.
Have also wanted to try out the Yakuza series, waiting for that PC release.
LOL in Yakuza Kiwami when you go to the porn DVD shop one of the movies you can ask for is Midnight Channel 4, which is hilarious since in Persona 4 you're supposed to tune into the Midnight Channel at midnight of a rainy night to see the next potential murder victim. Great game BTW, just finished that a little earlier.
Now I'm just starting up Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne. I have been wanting to play this for a while and it's one of the main reasons I bought a PS2.
About to finish Dark Souls 2 and his 3 Dlcs, what a ty game!
Pretty much everything about that game is off.. Still fun to beat the out of people, drop em back first on railings, etc

I’m enjoying this game. The chapters are surprisingly long in this game. I find myself stopping after 2 or 3 chapters of intense play.
