I think that's because Roger Stone himself is being investigated---probably already indicted. Mueller has no use for Stone other than putting him in jail.

Just because he (supposedly) didn’t know the meeting was going to take place doesn’t mean he wasn’t later informed of the meeting and how it went.
it’s just interesting because JR said after the fact that he never informed him of what happened. It would be highly unlikely to have found out about it through the media. No chance anybody else would tell Trump and not his own son.
Which leads to another problem when he crafted that statement denying it happened.
