Can't be worse than "Sparty Triple" for Forbes
https://news4sanantonio.com/sports/j...-jersey-numberOutside of a new team, conference, teammates and a new head coach, Poeltl will also be looking for a new jersey number.
In Toronto, he wore No. 42 but that number is already taken by forward Davis Bertans.
And he knows he'll be in the market for a new jersey number and may have already picked one out.
"It will probably be 25," said Jakob.

He should take the number 2.
Give him #2
I'm torn on this, actually. Part of me would like to see it as the seasonal number given to one of the two-way contracts, for perpetuity, for a couple reasons.
1. It would be a message that the number will never hang in the rafters.
2. It would underscore the notion that only players that give their all and bust their ass for their team get to don it.
3. A reminder that dedication to the team, and loyalty is the opposite of what Kawhi ultimately embodied here
That said, I'd be thrilled if a Spurs guy, like a Murray or White took it and then made a HOF career wearing it. So that in time, it was never even remotely associated with Kawhrisis.
Either way would probably be fine by me, tbh.
charles barkley said jakob's "one of the most underrated players in the nba."
Not that it means anything but Poeltl got destroyed twice last season: Dwight Howard & Josh Jackson got him bad.
Looked like he got lazy on Howard, and tripped over his own feet on Jackson. He’s got some pretty impressive defensive highlights to his credit out there too. I think he’ll be fine. With Pau, LMA, and hopefully TD mentoring him a bit I’d expect his skill set to rise this year.
Some people are saying Splitter 2.0. If we got anything close to Splitter without all the injuries that would be awesome.
He'll be better than Tiago tbh.
I wonder if Arnold Schwarzenegger will cameo at any Spurs games being that Jakob is the only Austrian NBA player.
So what? Every shot blocker is going to get dunked on.
Good luck as a victory cigar, Yakaw Purrdle
This. He didn't get destroyed, his man got past him and dunked on someone else.
OMG A RIM PROTECTOR GOT DUNKED ON. NEVER HAVE I SEEN THAT BEFORE IN THE NBA.
That dude is going to end up on some posters and none of them are going to say Jakob Poeltl
Tim has been posterized too. Not that I should be mentioning Jacob Poeltl in the same sentence as Tim Duncan.
So many salty Deadman fans in here tbh

Lets give The Chancellor Jacob a chance.......
Kind of pathetic, really.
I really can't wait to see Popovich get to work on Poeltl. I think the coaching staff, along with veterans Aldridge and Paul and occasionally the wisdom of Duncan when he passes thru will do wonders for him. I would like to throw him to the wolves, and start him to get him involved and learn the system as soon as possible. I think he can provide the defense nd rebounding that Paul cannot, and that is worth a start alone.
Clearly he'll start of the bench, because playing with that unit has always been easier for bigs because of what Manu generates on offense for them.
Not anywhere near as pathetic as Pop apologists.
