Even the whole Eva/Erin thing was likely overblown.

Obviously, we probably will never know the full truth, but the only thing that was ever substantiated from reports is that Tony and Erin were sexting while they were each going through their divorces with Eva and Brent, respectively.

Still a ty thing to do to your teammate (who was and, by all accounts, a great guy and one of my favorite Spurs ever)...but if that's really all it was, it sucks that Tony had to spend the rest of his career as "the guy who bangs his teammates wives".
    +1

Its funny how so many athletes, media members, and many others speak about Tony with hesitation b/c of the wife banging thing, but speak with such respect about other athletes who've done far worse like Kobe and Malone raping women.
and Malone even tried to rape Kobe's woman

That was flat out awesome. Tony's a better guy than all the sinless assholes on this forum.

Malone is the lowest of the low. that guy. Raped a 13 year old and then refused to acknowledge kid or pay any support. That part of his legacy is vastly under stated/reported.

Tony got more points in the paint than most PGs and still got fewer FTs than most. I never understood why he didn't get a lot more calls down there in the paint among the giants. And considering the length of his career and his style of play it's amazing he didn't get more serious injuries over the years.

Whatever some haters think, he was an irreplaceable part of all the best years of Spurs basketball. Like Manu and Tim, we won't see his like again any time soon.

Great read! I am sure he's sincere in his gratefulness to Pop, the Spurs and the city of San Antonio, but I wonder if he writes such a thoughtful piece if we didn't go through the Kawhi Debacle.
Absolutely re ed to think that. Like the whole world revolves around Kawhi?

To disturbingly myopic Spurs fans... it does.

I think the problem was Tony beat everyone to the rim so they didn't have a chance to foul him before he scored. He's the best ever at the one man fast break.

True the reason his fg% was so high was because he was that good at beating the help.

And even if there were shot blockers there... he handled them easily. He had old-man/big-man moves under the basket and his lethal floater helped set them up.
He was a truly special player and helped our team gain 4 les along the way.

I wished TP would've apologized for saying his injury was 100 times worse than Kawhi's and clarified that it was, in fact, 1,000 times worse, tbh.

Gonna miss that guy. He was one of the greatest Spurs all time. He was on a tear in the playoffs before that quad injury.
