    Here is the original draft:

    "[___________],

I’ve been going back and forth the last few weeks trying to figure out the right things to say, and it comes down to two simple words: THANK YOU!

My family and I want to say THANK YOU to the entire [________] organization and the people and fans of [__________].

THANK YOU to every one of my teammates I’ve played with over the past [____] years.

THANK YOU [_________] I’ll always be grateful for my growth [strikeout] as a player and a person [/strikeout] under your guidance.

THANK YOU to the fans! There is not a more passionate or dedicated fan base than what I’ve witnessed in [___________].

Through all the ups and downs – I’m glad there were many more ups! – I’ll never forget what we have shared and accomplished together. [strikeout] I wish it could have gone on forever! [/strikeout]

While I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my career, I’ll always remember the city and the people of [_________]. [strikeout] I wish you all the best for the future! [/strikeout]

    THANK YOU!

Its fitting that a person that suffers from depression would write in blue.

Also I find it funny that Tony showed up Kawhi one last time with his letter.

you cannot say with certainty that he will not be able to retain the logo. and it was kawhi that actually told jordan to gtfo by declining their contract.

It's funny. A week ago SAS fans were blaming him for his silence. Now, they're blaming him for talking/writing.

"but but Danny thanked San Sntonio...why Kawhi couldn't say the same????" Now, he says the same and fans..."but but who cares what he said"

    Just move on.
    God you are clueless

This is the start of his "group" attempting to repair his image. Expect to see him making as much of an attempt as he's capable of, impersonating a human being over the coming season.

It'll be like Bryant after the rape scandal . . . only Leonard doesn't have the charisma or social intelligence to pull it off.

Obligatory. Perfunctory. Generic. Ghost-written effort to resurrect his image.
He better hope things go his way in L.A or Toronto because he isn't that far off from the Dwight Howard experience.

I could see that taking him days to finish, working feverishly late nights at his little desk in his room working under lamp light, tongue ed out to the side.

Pretty much. Even a "good" thing can backfire when not delivered with genuine motives. When others outside of the "spurned" fanbase (who have no legitimate reason to be biased) can read between the lines of Kawhi's "cookie cutter" response - you know it's obvious as day.

this is gold; please reply to the jabari young tweet (or allow me to do so) with this. guaranteed will be the top response (but more importantly will expose this piece of letter to all those defending it and saying its better than nothing) .

So would you like extra cheese on that pizza?

He is just trying to save face with this letter, but yes it's better than saying nothing.

Obviously Spurs fans response to this will be flipping the bird right back and it's only natural after what Kawhi and his camp pulled on Spurs and all the fans.

I’m sure Nike designed it and has it trademarked. Good chance he won’t be able to use it. I’m assuming he didn’t bring the logo to Nike.

If he feels that strongly about Spurs I wonder if this whole thing was about Spurs not going to give him the supermax all along so he sat out last season pretty much disgruntled and cried Lakers trade this summer before they traded him to Raptors. I have no idea obviously that letter is a nice slice of cheese either way.

strongly disagree- not saying he should have poured his heart and soul into this (it's clear he gives 0 s about SA/the fanbase), but even if was just trying to save face, a simple inclusion of 1-2 specific examples does him far better than this literal thank you note template.

i.e. "thank you pop, i'll always be grateful to you for taking a chance on me and helping me grow into the complete player that I am today. thank you also to the fan base in san antonio who supported this kid from LA through the wins and losses- I'm glad I was able to help add to the city's rich culture of championships."

and yeah, everyone in this forum/from this fan base has a right to be salty (and desire said extra cheese). you don't invest 7 years into a player (even from the periphery, as a fan), have said player pull what kawhi pulled last year/this summer, piss out this lame excuse for a goodbye note (3-4 weeks too late at that), and just expect the fan base to say cheerio, I've moved on, etc.

Kobe can be charming when he wants to be; Kawhi looks like one of the original hosts on West World-trying to figure out basic human emotions Uncle Dennis has his work cut out for him.
