IMO, same way as radically changing the Ghostbusters was forced. Same way as creating a movie for Black Panther (one of the tiest least popular characters growing up) was forced, at the height of the BLM movement.

We've already had whites playing actual ethnic characters. The thing is there's really not much distinguishing the Bond character as a white guy -- just a British guy so a black or even an Indian dude could be plausible given everything that's happened in the empire since the 50s.

If Black Panther came out at the perfect time to maximize it’s profits, that’s literally the opposite of forced. Agreed on Ghostbusters tho. I don’t see how Idris Elba as Bond is forced, he’s easily the best option aside from maybe Tom Hardy.
