Why is Black Panther the only black lead character you guys can seem to come up with?
A better comparison would be casting a white guy in the Danny Glover character of the Lethal Weapon franchise. Or the Will Smith character in Men in Black.

As much as I wouldn't like to be placed on the racist, dumb, conservative side of the argument, I just can't help but laugh at the dumb s screaming "racism" just because folks are expressing their opinion about not wanting a character, they have followed their entire lifes, not being radically changed in appearance.
Srs question for all you folks: Wouldn't you be put off by a bald Superman? Superman hair isn't essential to the character, so following the logic of some here, I should guess you wouldn't, although I'm sure that would be a lie.
What is wrong with wanting one of your favourite characters to remain as true as possible to the character you have grown to like?
Not everything has to be racist, tbh. es were whinning like crazy about the guy casted for Fifty Shades of Gray not resembling the character described on the book. Clearly not a problem of race, since the actor was white. Hardcore fans will always want their favourite characters to be represented as close as possible to the mental representations they have of those characters.
With that being said, I just googled this Elba guy. He does seem like he could pull a very convincent James Bond, look wise. Much better than the old fart looking dude that was playing him untill now. But then again, I'm not a James Bond fan, so I really wouldn't know.

Your "true" is based only on his skin color. Period. You see his blackness as a fundamentally more extreme character change than any other physical trait. Tbh his casting as Roland is 1000000000x worse considering the gunslinger was repeatedly called honky by Detta Walker.
