Everybody who follows any literary character, comic book hero, myth, knows the story. There is a story for a reason. A movie company really thinks they can do whatever they want to well known ficticious characters? They can ignore the realities of the story?
Once they try to sell....Captain America...The Fantastic Four...Sherlock Holmes....they are using somebody elses idea. To do what they want with someone elses creation to make $$$$$ should be illegal.

Judy has talked with people many times about the sad situation with black families. Why can't black men accept their responsibilities? But it could be any man who bails on his family, race a total non factor.

The James Bond character created by Ian Fleming was of the WASP-type (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant). Well, one source claims Bond is a non-conformist Protestant or somebody with Calvinistic upbringing. Calvinism is a major branch of Protestantism that follows the theological tradition and practice of John Calvin, a white French theologian.
Another source claims Bond is a Catholic recusant (a Catholic believer but refuses to perform or attend Anglican rites and services) or a Jacobite (a member of a political movement that advocates Roman Catholicism in England).
Whether Bond is a Protestant or a Catholic, is beside the point. Bond will always be played by a white actor in accordance with Fleming’s character conceptualization from the time he was writing his Bond novels.
I'll say this....
If it's just a movie with nothing at all to do with the actual James Bond saga then a black man, a woman, a Mexican, a Chinamen can do a 007, ah.....is he still 007?

Excited for Idris Elba for James Bond b/c I like the actor and I don't feel strongly what ethnicity/race he is, but I would have strong feelings for some other characters in literary works/other mediums, just not Bond. As far as I've read (and I haven't read a lot), he's never specifically described as white. Can someone let me know if that is the case?
Does anything at all matter here? If not then why not do a movie about the real black British secret service agent who was a bit of a legend?
I would actually prefer that tbh. Make a wholly unique agent inspired by bond. That way he can be more in touch with his roots, while not stepping on the literary toes of Bond. It won't sell as much though.
