That was a nice little speech. Fact remains you're not a good judge of anything; and you're a sociopath.
You'll do and say anything to back out of explaining the conspiracy theories you bring up.

    It's funny.

    I'm laughing at you.

I don't need to argue "conspiracy theories" tooth and nail to please a sociopath. This obviously bothers you.

You think explaining yourself is "the weeds."

Sorry it's too difficult for you.

During WWII you can certainly look at the economic recovery, the nationalist pride, etc... but there's also dings that certainly went under the radar thanks to the outcome, like the Japanese internment camps, etc...

I gave you an academic source. When I was unwilling to do a book report for you, you predictably threw a tantrum.

That is not an academic source. The author is a journalist.

Not justifying it. But how many do you think were actually Japanese informants and/or sympathizers?

So, you're saying there's a prohibition on using that book in an academic setting?

I have no idea, but the question works just as well in reverse: how many do you think were actually just innocent Japanese citizens?

Furthermore, it wasn't just Japanese citizens, but also American citizens with Japanese ancestry. Almost 60% of them were American citizens, denied due process.

Even more disgusting was the SCOTUS skirting the incarceration issue entirely. Really a bad dent on an otherwise good era.

I don't think it works as well in reverse. I think the point is to what level of perverseness or sabotage were we willing to accept?

Actually, the point, IMO, is how much can we on our national values of freedom and justice in the name of exigent cir stances.

Put yourself for a minute in the shoes of any American citizen (just like you), that suddenly one day is taken into a internment camp, with no recourse, no matter your opinion or your own personal cir stances. They weren't just first generation Japanese-Americans, it went all the way back to 2nd generation. We're talking some people that lived here all their lives.

I denounced the 'enemy combatant' status for American citizens also, it's really not that much different, and it's really unfortunate that some people didn't learn the lesson back then. Some people are probably willing to give up everything in the name of national security, I'm not.

I don't think there's any doubt that the Cons ution was shat upon. I'm still asking what level of danger/risk you'd be willing to tolerate all the same.

I've been to Mexico, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, no thanks.

We look at this from completely opposite angles. I'm not thinking of this in terms of national danger/risk, because that's just implicit in life. Any American can snap up and kill other Americans. Any American can decide one day to collude with the enemy (see what I did there? lol).

Denying the freedom of an American citizen in his own soil, without access to the courts and to defend themselves (due process) is probably among the worst things we could do as a nation. It s on absolutely everything we claim we stand for. There's absolutely core values that should never be stepped on, regardless of the risks or dangers, freedom is one of them, IMO.

I respect your p.o.v. I guess I'm just wondering what danger there was if any that there were internment camps. I suspect some of the history has been buried.
