President Donald Trump’s approval among black voters has almost doubled in the space of a year, the latest presidential polling from Rasmussen Reports has found.

    det black vote, though

What's interesting is that when you compare Trump's approval rating in Gallup polling with the percentage of the vote he got against Clinton in every other ethnic or racial group, Trump is doing worse now than he did back in 2016.

If you were to apply the changes we see in Trump's approval rating among blacks compared with his vote share in 2016 and all other groups voted the same, it would mean a shift in the national margin of about 1 percentage point toward him. In these swing states mentioned, it could be even greater.

Did you even read your own link?

"Trump's approval rating is 9% among black voters."

He got 8% of the black vote so he basically got a measly percent improvement. I guess you can call that a gain.

Harry Enten says that if all other groups were to vote the same as in 2016, the bump would be about 1% in the general election -- about half of HRC's popular vote margin.

not sure why DJT should get credit for black folks figuring out how to work for themselves, good on them

An overwhelming majority of black entrepreneurs surveyed, 80%, said lack of capital was the most challenging aspect of running a business. According to ProjectDiane, only 0.2% of all venture capital funding was allocated toward startups founded by black women in 2016, while just 34 black women business owners received more than million dollars of funding in the last year.

As a result, many African Americans are forced to fund their own business. In fact, 70% of those surveyed financed their companies using cash, while 23% received funding from friends and family. Eleven percent said they tapped into their 401(k) plans to fund their businesses.

Odd way to look at things. Why apply the changes to one demographic and not the other?

that's how Harry Enten contextualized the possible impact.

    small, but not negligible.
