‘A suicide mission’:
Ex-prosecutor says ‘coffee boy’ George Papadopoulos would be an idiot to pull out of Mueller plea deal
The former state and federal prosecutor said
Papadopoulos needs Mueller more than the special counsel needs him.
“Even if he succeeds in withdrawing his plea, it is a suicide mission,” Honig said.
“He has nowhere to go.
He is going to trial, and
all indications are he would just get destroyed at trial.
I don’t think Mueller is sweating this one.”

They are all idiots.
Former US attorney on MSNBC slaps down Rudy Giuliani’s claim that Mueller is ‘running out of time’
Former US attorney Greg Brower had nothing but scorn for Rudy Giuliani’s statement that “Mueller is running out of time.”
Brower agreed with MSNBC anchor Hallie Jackson’s assertion that
the comment seemed to be “more of a pr strategy than a legal strategy”,
since “Robert Mueller can do what he wants”.
“This is Giuliani being Giuliani,” Brower said. He added that
Giuliani was “trying to create spin and,
frankly, trying to create leverage of the type
that neither he nor the president really has.”
the investigation ... would “proceed on the special counsel’s time and in the way the special counsel thinks is appropriate.”

If Mueller reports to Congress with the Dems heading towards control, Nunes will not be able hide the report.
Will the Dems have the guts to screw Trash to the max with Mueller's findings? I really doubt it. Dems don't have guts.
A ‘perjury trap’ isn’t the real reason Trump won’t answer Mueller’s questions
when Giuliani and Trump insist that Mueller is laying a perjury trap,
they’re admitting that if Mueller asks certain questions, Trump will respond by lying.
In ordinary cir stances, there are plenty of reasons that someone suspected of a crime wouldn’t want to answer questions from police or prosecutors even if they’re innocent, but
“If I let you ask me questions, I’ll lie and then you’ll indict me for perjury” is not a particularly compelling defense.
Facing an informed interrogator able to ask follow-up questions,
he would also almost certainly wind up looking evasive, self-contradictory, disingenuous — in a word, guilty.
Though Trump might well commit perjury if forced to answer Mueller’s questions, he won’t face prosecution for it.
But
everyone would see him desperately distract, deflect and dissemble in answer to questions about Russia and obstruction of justice.
That’s the real danger that Trump faces: not legal danger, but political danger.
An interview with Mueller might not make impeachment and removal from office more likely (he has a firewall of Republican support in Congress to prevent that),
but it will almost certainly make a defeat in 2020 more likely.
His lawyers have certainly seen what has happened when Trump has been deposed before, and the results weren’t pretty.
In one case, he was forced 30 separate times to admit lies he had told. In another deposition,
regarding the fraud lawsuit over Trump University,
Trump claimed to be unable to remember so many specific things that
the opposing lawyer eventually asked him whether he remembered saying he has one of the world’s best memories.
Trump said he couldn’t remember saying that. (In fact, he had.)

UPDATED: Russia Is Now Working to Protect Puppet President Trump from Attacks from the Right
BOSTON — The Russian military intelligence unit that sought to influence the 2016 election appears to have a new target:And, efforts to sow division on the left continue as well.
conservative American think tanks that have broken with President Trump and
are seeking continued sanctions against Moscow, exposing oligarchs or pressing for human rights.
In a report scheduled for release on Tuesday, Microsoft Corporation said that it detected and seized websites that were created in recent weeks by hackers linked to the Russian unit formerly known as the G.R.U.
The sites appeared meant to trick people into thinking they were clicking through links managed by the Hudson Ins ute and the International Republican Ins ute,
but were secretly redirected to web pages created by the hackers to steal passwords and other credentials.
Microsoft also found websites imitating the United States Senate, but not specific Senate offices or political campaigns.
The shift to attacking conservative think tanks underscores
the Russian intelligence agency’s goals:
to disrupt any ins utions challenging Moscow and President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia.
...Only days later, in a report first released to members of Congress, Facebook revealed that it had discovered and eliminated an influence operation aimed at fueling divisions among Americans by targeting progressive groups.
Facebook stopped short of naming Russia as the culprit of that campaign, although the social media company pointed to similarities between the influence operation and previous work by the Russian state-linked Internet Research Agency.
We are effectively at war with Russia, if ‘only’ digitally.
The fact that our government is currently led by a toddler-in-chief
backed by a party of oligarchs, racists, and partisan hacks who are fine with that only makes it worse.

White House counsel has NO attorney client privilege.
Props to TSA and his active rooting for Russian oligarchs tho.
Flynn sentencing delayed again. Still cooperating
Just remember, the earth is cooler since Donald took office. Global warming solved!!

In Ruling Against Trump, Judge Defines Anticorruption Clauses in Cons ution for First Time
WASHINGTON — A lawsuit accusing President Trump of violating the Cons ution by maintaining a financial interest in his company’s Washington hotel cleared a critical hurdle on Wednesday when a federal judge allowed the case to move forward.
In the first judicial opinion to define how the meaning of the Cons ution’s anticorruption clauses should apply to a president, Judge Peter J. Messitte of the United States District Court in Greenbelt, Md., said the framers’ language should be broadly construed as an effort to protect against influence-peddling by state and foreign governments.

It makes "high crimes and misdemeanors" a lot easier to prove, if so.
horrible day for ol boy
how has he flipped? he's not cooperating as far as we know.
flipping would be cooperating for leniency. just pleading guilty and eating your time is the opposite of flipping, especially if he's expecting a pardon for doing so

[edit]Looking like the jury is about done, and has decided on most charges, unknown as to verdict yet]
Not from above link, but here is a good analysis from Thomas Clay Jr.:
Stick a fork in Manafort because he is done. This morning his high dollar lawyer had to tell him he is done. Guilty on all counts but one it looks like. One conviction on any of the counts means he dies in prison. It looks like they are hung on one charge.
Michael Cohen is about to plead guilty today in the SDNY. He has been acting like a guilty man who has finally realized he is caught and he is doomed. The indictments are not even filed and he folded up faster than a cheap lawn chair. "I will take a bullet for Donald Trump." Except when push came to shove, he wouldn't even take a single day in jail for Trump. Like his hero, Cohen is a spineless coward.
So let us take a look at the board. Bobby Mulls has 4 pawns, 1 bishop, 1 knight pinned and he's about to capture both rooks. Bobby Mulls has almost all his pieces. All that's left is the family. Jared, Ivanka, Eric, Junior, Hope Hicks, Fox and himself. The thing is, they're morons. ALL OF THEM. Bobby Mulls is not. He has the captains in this crime family which means he has the Don.
When the guilty verdicts are announced, he will come even more unglued. Mueller wants him to pardon Manafart. He wants him to make that mistake and because Trump is an imbecile, he will walk right into the trap. Pardoning Manafort will mean he has no regard for the Justice Department or the rule of law. Think about that for a moment. A president who thinks the rule of law does not apply to him is what?
Yeah, a tyrant.
When a jury of his American peers deliver guilty verdicts, he can't say this is a witch hunt. He will try but that will be untenable even with his most dedicated base. The entire country will know then, without question, that Trump is a crook.
That just might be a tipping point for Republican senators if we serve them a Blue Tsunami in November. Trump thinks he has done nothing wrong and that might be to a man who is so wholly ignorant of the law. 'Well I didn't know it was illegal to take a meeting with Russians. Nobody knows that so I am innocent.' Yeah, that's not how the law works.
Both captains are going down today. Cohen's plea will be entered in 2 hours. The wheels of justice grind slowly but right now, they're like a run away freight train. Robert Mueller III is playing like the prosecutorial assassin that he is. They're all going down. ALL OF THEM. Trump knows it now.
Cue a lot of firing and the Saturday Night Massacre. You think you've seen chaos? Elect a clown, expect a circus and from here on out, the storm only gets worse. He's coming for the Don now. That reality is going to drive Trump to a new level of insanity.

Manafort found guilty on count 1
Make that 8.
Natasha Bertrand tweeted that he's guilty of 8 counts... but I think she's mistaken and meant there is a verdict on 8 counts.
edit: well nevermind, per djohn's posted tweet above. guess she was right
wonder if the govt will retry the other 10. they will probably poll the jury and see what the actual count was. if it was something like 9-3 or 10-2 for a guilty verdict they'll likely retry imo
It that Cohen pleading out, or Manafort being found guilty of the first crime?
