I know I'm often on the anti-Manu side of arguments, but I think it would be best for him to retire unless something dramatic changes with his role. It's just a good time to do it with White looking good and needing time, and with the team's shift in philosophy.
Anyway, I don't get the point of meeting with Pop. He already knows Pop wants him back and will always want him back. I doubt anything he hears will change his mind. Maybe he just wants assurances that that $2.5 Million will still go into his bank account. I believe a big part of why Tim remains active with the team is that he wants to feel like he's earning his money still. Maybe Manu feels uncomfortable with taking the cash and peacing? OR maybe Ginobili just wants to hear it from Pop that he's welcome back before deciding to play again. Manu's always seemed surprisingly insecure about his relationship with PATFO.
the negative is that we would miss his veteran presence. the positive is that it will give younger players more rotation minutes in what will be a year where a le or contention is out of the question anyway.
In reality, Manu is less motivated to return with his long-time running mate, fellow Hall of Famer and, yes, good friend in Charlotte.
Oh the irony for Manufans the world over.
The offseason that keeps on giving! - ElNono
Give us 1 more year Manu. You've given enough to the organization, but let us have the opportunity to show the appreciation you deserve.
Not looking forward to Forbes averaging 20+ mpg next season.
Basically, he's gonna ask Pop: Is this team going to contend or are we a bunch of scrubs? If the latter, I'm out of here, tbh.
I can tell you that whether or not the Spurs are true contenders factors in zero to Manu's decision.
He should sign a 10-day contract with the Heat and retire after the 8th day. Perfect ending to his career.
Really hope the le is just clickbait. I don't like the thought of Pop having to convince Manu to stay...because Pop won't. He will tell Manu to do what's best for himself.
This thread belongs in the NBA forum now, tbh....
He's gone, he keeps tweeting his sleep science stuff, . Move this thread to the club tbh
I assume his conversation will be whether he feels they can contend and if he will be a regular part of the rotation. If this is the case it is a tough decision. Lots of guy need playing time already.
Crap take, Chinook.
Its got little to do with money (for either Tim or Manu) as you make it out to be.
It will boil down to what kind of role Pop expects from him and whether he trusts his body to allow him to play that role. Just as Tim retired the moment he realised that his right knee has conked and his high levels of playing were not any longer possible.
Do you, Manu. Whether you come back or not, you're a legend.
No. No. God. Please no.

It would be a shame if we never get to see Manu run the p 'n r with Jakob Poeltl.
