I know it will seem like a quibble, but Manafort hasn't been convicted of anything remotely like treason.

A jury convicted him on the evidence of bank fraud and tax avoidance. Ordinarily that's not a life sentence, but it's the functional equivalent of one because Manafort is 65 years old.

Manafort would have gotten away with it too, if Trump hadn't won. There's an element of hamartia, something pitiable in that for me.
