Who dat in your sit?
Understand we were outcoached by a man making 600k, a man who had not nearly as much time to get Maryland ready to play us! Our coach makes 5 million or more a year! What the is going on? Coaching, coaching, coaching! I will say it again, I am starting to think that Herman is not the man for the job at UT! And it pains and sickens me to say it! What a way to start off my Sunday!
Who dat in your sit?
I agree with most everything you say, especially on the quarterback situation. I have only seen Ingram for his six carries in the first half ,(aside from high school film) and it just appears that he has instincts and talents that the other backs lack. Of course its a message board for opinions and I surely could be wrong but I believe he is a difference maker. There is definitely a place for Ingram, Watson and Young in spots.Onward to next week.

Sometimes an ass kicking wakes a team up and gets them going. This team should not need that. They have accomplished nothing. . A preseason ranking and an ESPN idiot picking them for the playoffs mean nothing. Hard to figure.
A few thoughts:
- OL vastly improved from the crapper we were last year. We may even be an above average unit this year.
- Ingram is the best RB on the roster as a true fresh. Watson had flashes too, even with the bogus fumble call.
- One of these days we’re going to have a WR block someone.
- Where was Ingram our best RB in the second half?
- Defense will not be as good as last year, period. To much talent left for the NFL. That being said, this unit will be above average anyways.
- Brandon Jones is the best player on D.
- Texas needs to run tempo more. Things seem to click when we went into high gear.
- Mack Brown curse is still upon us, my fellow horn fans!
Especially since we cannot physically move the D backwards.
I dont one want to hear anymore about our massive squat improvement. Technique must be there. Does Yancy teach technique since we are so strong up front?
The D is more than willing to crush people, they just need to be in the right spots. Mistakes in position and possibly play calling on D. Also corners getting beat. When Davis went out, Boyce got chewed on. And Davis was not great but better than Boyce. And our best corner flat out dropped an interception. Gotta make that easy play early. credit for being in the right spot, but make that play, it was easy.
Some really untimely penalties as well.
We got better late, that is encouraging. The way the offense handled the setup to win was not. We could have won this game easily. Not last year, we got our asses kicked.
Brandon Jones was our MVP considering he also put us in decent position with timely punt returns.
Our receivers did make some very big catches for TDS at least.

I'm telling you now, if Sam Starts and throws an INT, he is going to get booed like Garrett Gilbert. Herman needs to let Shane start and maybe later in the day let Sam back in. As it is now, Sam is Garrett Gilbert 2.0 and will be until he proves otherwise.
Yeah Shane isn't gonna start any time soon unless injury
If he doesn't then Sam is going to be Garrett Gilbert 2.0 and Herman is going to dig his own grave here. I don't care what anyone says in front of the mike, Sam's not a good QB when the game is tight, he makes stupid mistakes and is not a very accurate passer. He also holds the ball way too long.
What we saw yesterday is exactly what TCU is going to give us in a few weeks. Like I said, Tom Herman is coaching for his job, he may not see it, but his job is on the line just like his assistants. Injuries and the oline are not an excuse for the egg they layed yesterday. This team needs to show improvement and especially from the QB spot or this season is toast and Tom will be a lame duck after just two seasons.
Totally disagree with the Boyce B.
Coverage safe means stand 15 yards off your man and then barely bring him down after 20 yards? Should not be on the field unless that’s all we got. Can’t grade a guy who should be in another class then. Sterns and Foster seemed fine with their grade level.
Im gonna watch it again.
On a two man rush the last two or 3 series guys broke free and it was not Anderson, he took his guy. Way too much praise for the online who never seem to get a good push downfield on run plays. We caught them napping or stood them up on good runs. Maybe that’s all this offense requires on a run.
It is difficult to win with freshman and sop re quarterbacks. The Patterson AD hire should be scrutinized. Who hired that moron ? His coaching choices crippled our program. Again, whoever hired that guy should be held accountable
Saying our offensive line was good enough to run our offense doesn't mean they were the 95 Nebraska offensive line. It simply means they weren't the reason Texas lost this game.
This ^^^^^^ X 10!
Never said they were the reason we lost.
I know they gotta talk about something in the off season, but I personally don’t wanna hear about squats when we don’t shove people around.
The offensive line is not good enough to run our offense.
Because We have a super shaky QB situation, so we gotta punch people. We caught Maryland with tempo or stood them up on runs. We don’t shove people around. At one point, we were 1 out of 8 on 3rd down because we can’t get 2nd or third with two yards to go. (I don’t know what the final stat was). Then the run might be a possibility. 3rd and long won’t do it for this team all year. As I said before, maybe this offensive system is not meant to push people back. Because we damn sure did not. The pass coverage is better than last year. (Could it be worse?) I think Anderson helped enormously this game in that respect.
Also just rewatched a bit of the last few drives to win. They rushed two guys (the third was scramble protection for Maryland) and one got free and moved Sam happy feet. How does that happen? Anderson did his job one on one a number of occasions. So what the ? We had guys looking around for people to block. That 2nd rusher should have been smothered.
The defense was much better after that blitz of points. That seemed to be a caught with your pants down not knowing what Maryland was doing with that freshman and took a while to recover and figure it out.
It got better.
The offense, was , I have no clue what the the game plan was, other than to look like dog .
The line looked better. Ehlinger made stupid plays, ran when he shouldnt have, passed when he should have ran. Just stupid decisions. Much like the game planning on offense. Just stupid.
Sam was sacked one time. Texas gave up 7 tackles for loss. That isn't a bad day. Stats don't show any QB hurries but I think that is dependent on the definition of a QB hurry. Ingram had a 6.2 rush average.
It's hard for the oline to look better when the QB (Sam) was holding onto the ball way too long. It should also be noted that when Sam is trying to mount a comeback the other team always seems to drop back 8 or 9 guys. and just dare him to throw the ball. What I don't understand is why don't they just do a 4 count and tell the QB to run. They can do that for a whole drive and force them out of the prevent. Truth is our coaches don't know how to call plays.
This makes me think we don’t know how to run whatever we are trying to do. On the quick passes out wide that have become so standard, there is no coordination between the blocking receivers and the ball catching receivers. It’s almost like running good screens in basketball, the dribbler has to set up the guy setting the pick properly. It seems the guy having to block is too far away, or not quick enough to move in, or just can’t block, I see all of them. And this is standard fare for any offense in football now, even HS.
The offense is so inconsistent. We got huge plays off of some great catches. But on easier plays to complete and catch and then run... they just can’t be relied on. They are not 2nd nature. Nothing is easy. Nothing is wide open, boy did we fool them, or get them outmanned.

Boy this is very true. It so frustrating. Like a bad flag football QB.
Yep, that’s how you stop that. They are waiting for pass, ready to move back, blockers find them and knock them on their butts or turn them around looking the other way and can’t find the running QB.

“Honestly, after what they said they were building, and all the hype everybody was giving them, they didn’t live up to all that hype,” he said. “Their first game, and it’s Maryland, and I understand they’ve lost to them like two or three years in a row, still, you can’t lose that game.”
He added, “Honestly, the only team that I haven’t fully closed on is Alabama. Texas is completely out of the picture.”
On a interview with taylor hamm, Leal admitted that the only school he is still even considering is alabama. He says Texas is completely out of it and criticized Texas for losing to Maryland. So it begins...
