I am a not a FEDERAL government employee - local govt that has to balance their budget. For those retiring soon, their pensions are golden - lots have changed since to bring salaries/pensions under control (such as the years after 2011 - no COLA). But I knew what would happen staying home to raise kids - no regrets - I'd do it all over again.
