Well well. The first year Tony is gone, Brent is hired. Rather interesting.

Should replace pop as the head coach!
Does Tony come back after retirement?
Brent has always been one of my favorite Spurs, and I hated the way he had to leave the organization last time. Will be awesome to have him back in the fold.
Was hoping for some Porker jokes, I'm disappointed.
He opted out and signed instead with Houston.
The second Parker leaves.
Brent was smart. Even in the aftermath, he was careful to say nothing at all about Tony, and only complementary things about the organization. That'll get you a job down the road.
I'm guessing this means Tony has no interest in a FO position when he retires...
good guy brent barry let the spurs trade him. brent had to sit out 30 days before resigning with the spurs. there's now a rule that would've disallowed that move.
Well I know, but that was immediately after the whole Parker thing went down. If not for that, I strongly believe he would have retired a Spur.
lol I think everyone immediately thought Parker.
A number of teams had used this gambit, including Dallas actually signing a retired player to a partially guaranteed contract to make salaries work, but it was in the immediate aftermath of the Spurs use of this tactic that it was rendered null and void by the league.
Wow...that's not just some minor position.
Sounds like he's being groomed to take over Pop's job in the front office when Pop decides to retire. Does RC walk when Pop does and then Brent hires the next Spurs GM?
Not sure it is what it looks like. I remember going through the media guide at one point and SSE had like 15 VPs? It may be that they bumped him into a VP slot to make it harder for someone to poach him away. A team would basically have to offer him full control of bball operations to offer him an upgrade and get automatic permission for an interview. Otherwise, they'd need the Spurs permission.
it was rough 10 years for him, having to avoid Tony while being an NBA analyst. You could tell how much he wanted to be around the spurs but he couldn't cause of what Tony did to him.
Why would you think that Brent wouldn't want RC, if it came to him taking over? I doubt RC's chomping at the bit to retire at 58.
I'd love to keep RC!! If he stays with the Spurs and Brent takes over President of Basketball operations, I'm all for it! Great way to keep the continuity going.
so... TP still gonna retire in a spurs uni? lol
I'm not sure that was ever anything other than fan conjecture anyway, but probably no. That jersey retirement is gonna be a bit awkward, also.
