I'd say the accused dug his own hole when he perjured himself twice under oath. The surfacing allegations only began to reveal that he wasn't close to what he portrayed himself to be.
Now, his shaky credibility is being revealed to the world and he does not have the integrity to say he demands an FBI investigation to clear his name. If he is innocent he would do exactly - that.

people have decided based on what's already out there, and what they already believe, what they think about Kavanaugh and his accusers. they will watch TV today and decide whom, if anyone, to believe, like you do at a job interview. that judgment will not be based on on evidence so much as self-presentation and who looks and sounds better on TV.

But the Dems wanted a win. Killing the nomination in July/August would have given Trump time to nominate and get another judge approved. By playing it this way, the Dems have a better chance at blocking that seat from a conservative, but they have wrecked multiple lives in the meantime. It is this behavior that makes me hate politicians, and be willing to accept ANYTHING except another one of them. It's how, frankly, we got a Trump.

The hyperbole has been extreme, and believed absolutely. I run in academic circles - they have swallowed the kool-aid. This woman (Ford) is now a hero to these people. What does she have to gain? I'm thinking a book, a speaking tour, and I'd be willing to bet a nice slot at the next presidential convention (bookmark this post). She is going to be an icon of the left for years. She lives in ing San Francisco! What does she have to lose? Not a damn thing. Have some perspective.
