This will get interesting. Game of chicken. We know Trump wants this confirmation right now. We know Trump has disdain for the FBI (and anyone that opposes him - especially the media). But if this Tweet is true, Trump will have to order the FBI investigation.
The FBI will be able to ask questions and follow up questions to what Mark Judge already submitted as a sworn statement. He will also have a chance to recant his statement (i.e. flip on Cavanaugh to save his own ass ala Cohen and David Dennison).
The FBI can also clear up 51-year old Dr. Ford's memory by doing a background check on everything she reported. Things like the Devil's Triangle (2 men running a train on 1 woman) or Boofing (inserting a drug in someone else's ass) and other things Cavanagh lied about, under oath yesterday can be fact checked by the FBI.
The FBI can also call him, Dr. Ford and all material witnesses together (not in front of cameras like yesterday) for further clarification of their statements. The FBI could call in - or send agents to - other potential witnesses (the other two ladies complaining about Kavanagh) and do the same thing.
27 years ago, the FBI did all of the above and more for 22 witnesses in a 4-day timeframe for Anita Hill vs Clarence Thomas. So I know it can be done.
Problem is, will Trump let it - knowing there is dirt on the nominee that can save his ass from Mueller? Doubtful. But we'll see.
