I don't think many in this thread understand what show they're watching. They seem to think they're watching court tv or Judge Judy.
I said he would be confirmed from the start, dumbass.

he may be impeached by a Dem house after Nov elections (but they don't have the balls, the less wimps),

but the Repug Senate won't convict, they and WH have invested too much of themselves in covering up for K, for ramming him through to SCOTUS
It's a lifetime appointment. Again, if perjury is proven, he will be impeached. There's too much attention being paid to this, and too many pissed people for it to go away. If, however, he did something that falls short of provable perjury, nothing will happen (if he's confirmed).

This whole investigation is silly. People keep thinking there is rape proof out there if the FBI keeps looking. At first, Dems were asking for just 3 days, now the FBI has to keep looking until it substantiates Ford's claims or prove that she made it up. Therein lies (pun intended) the problem. Everyone, including the Dems on the judiciary committee (a good portion of them are prosecutors) know there will not be any evidence that will be discovered, no matter how long this investigation goes on. There's a reason for the statute of limitations because evidence runs stale after 30 years. Moreover, Ford is yet to give anyone concrete facts that can be verified. If you don't know where it was, how she got there, when it was, who was there, and how she got home, how can you investigate? When all the people alleged to have been there deny or don't remember any such gathering, how do you investigate?

Kavanaugh, in trying to prove a negative (which is impossible, especially under Ford's claims), provided the only potential evidence in his calendars, and that's assuming the year is correct since it's changed a bunch of times.

An investigation will show that there is no evidence that this ever occurred.

And then people will say this is a job interview. But is this a typical job interview? No. Normal job interviews don't involve people paying millions to stop you from getting a job. Normal job interviews do not involve newspapers and the FBI digging deep into your background and asking people to come forward with anything potentially contradictory about you. And normal job interviews do not involve people so passionate about you not getting the job, that they have the incentive to make up (other claims against Kavanaugh) or speak up without any proof (Ford). This is not a typical job interview and people that keep referencing it like it is are either insincere or naive.
Then why is the gop/white house scared to death of allowing a fair investigation?
why are they hamstringing the fbi?

What do you mean by gave away the war? Do you think those lies are going to cost him the vote of each of Collins, Murkowski, Heitkamp, and Manchin? Because if he gets any one of their votes he is confirmed.
I think the red state democrats would only vote yes if Collins and Murkowski vote yes.

That got Flake is sure doing a lot of interviews about his decision as of the past few days. It will be harder and harder for him to be a yes. That's of course assuming he still has a backbone between now and Friday or whenever the vote is up.

That's a lot of talking for someone who will vote yes anyways.

They aren't hamstringing it according to everything I've heard. I heard a few democrats on the Sunday shows say that it was being limited, and then when they asked what evidence or proof they have, they said only that they "heard reports." It's just a whisper campaign. There is a reason why we don't go back and investigate 30 year old allegations with no basis in fact. Sure, if there were some physical evidence or even a location, then maybe, but Ford has given nothing to investigate so likely the FBI will be done investigating after a few days. And it probably only takes a few days because they have to interview all the people over again.

He is beholden to no one, but my guess is that he'll have cover after the FBI "investigation" and vote yes. That said, the reason he isn't running anymore is because he fought with Trump and it cost him his seat in Arizona. So maybe he votes no as a final middle finger to Trump. That's entirely possible.

It was confirmed in the news just a short while ago that the white house did indeed restrict the fbi.
However , Flake spoke up and Collins spoke up about having a real investigation - and not just “to give us cover” to still confirm kavanaugh.

So now the WH has taken off the restrictions- but the fbi already lost3 days.

Repugs/WH are shooting up a bunch of flak to cause confusion, chaos.

ex-FBI people, very probably in contact with their FBI buddies, say the investigation is severely restricted in scope and time.

aka, COVERUP with a pro forma / fraudulent, incomplete investigation.

Shortly after the 2016 election, Tina Fey took to task the white women who had helped elect Donald Trump, providing him with 52 percent of their support. Fey particularly focused her remarks on college-educated white women, 44 percent of whom voted for Trump, chastising them for wanting to “go back to watching HGTV” and forget about the election. “You can’t look away,” Fey implored. “Because it doesn’t affect you this minute, but it’s going to affect you eventually.”

New evidence suggests many of these women may now agree with Fey. In the wake of sexual-assault allegations against the Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, a Morning Consult/Politico poll found that President Trump’s net support among Republican women had dropped by 19 points.

... and I thought women were annoyed before... yikes. Talked to more than one normally GOP-leaning woman in the last week who is PISSED, and sought me out as the Democrat they know.

He was willing to lie to be on the supreme court. He was nakedly partisan in his response to this, finally showing his true colors.

He will be anything but an impartial arbiter of the law, who openly supports a king-like executive branch, contrary to everything the founding fathers feared.

If this is the best the GOP has to offer... them, and the horse they rode in on.

maybe K and/or Judge drove their victim home.

Mitc talked to Ford for only 15 MINUTES and decided against charging K with a crime, just like a good Repug hired shill would.

Hilarious how the alt-Reich / right wing hate media is focusing on Ford, while ignoring K's nervous, emotional breakdown from the stress and exposure of all his lies.

    "Gimme that seat, it's MINE!"

You did not read the article——> Tweeter———>Chris did you?

The Republican lady from Sheriff Joe A’s territory said something ENTIRELY different according to those articles.
Of course there is no way she brings a case against K with her accuser after 36 years and only The good Dr. as a witness testifying. Your problem is you think this is a trial. So in this so called trial what are the charges? and if found guilty what kind of jail time we looking at for K?

I believe this is a broad right to investigate: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/01/u...kavanaugh.html

But let's be honest, unless it comes back with dirt that would allow Dems to sink the nomination, the investigation will never be good or thorough enough. Complaining about the exhaustiveness of the investigation is just a Democrat's way of attempting to delegitimize the investigation when it comes back with zero. A bunch of the Dem committee members are former prosecutors. They know this investigation will yield nothing. There goal is to make it go on as long as possible and then delegitimize it anyway that they can.

Republicans obviously don't want an open ended investigation. That feeds into the narrative that the more you investigate, the more leads you will have to investigate. And even if the leads go no where, they know Dems will be calling for further investigations. Suddenly, three day FBI investigation they were calling for is not long enough. Now they'll say they need a three month investigation.

It's linked in the second paragraph.

A new Morning Consult/Politico poll, conducted Sept. 20-23
