Gorsuch wasn't replacing Kennedy, he was replacing Scalia. It's a big deal for Kavanaugh to replace Kennedy, so there is a much bigger fight. Also, Dems couldn't stop Gorsuch because the Republicans controlled the Senate and Trump had plenty of time to get Gorsuch through (Dems did try to filibuster to no avail on Gorsuch).

But Kavanaugh's nomination is months from the midterms. So it makes sense for Dems to pull out all stops on him because if they can somehow take the Senate, they will block any nomination until 2020. Then, there plan is to let Pres. Avenatti pick the next supreme court justice.

Of course he’s guilty, he’s a Republican. And I’m sure you voted for Hillary even though she went after and tried to destroy all those women that accused Bill of sexual assault with more verifiable facts than Ford presented.

i don’t know what happened 30 years ago. Did Ford misremember how many beers she had or if it was Ford or someone else, or did it happen? I don’t know. There’s no way to prove it. Did Kavenaugh lie about attempted rape or was he too drunk to know? Again, I don’t know. But I do know there is no evidence and it was 35 years ago. No one has credibly alleged anything like that for the rest of his life. He’s not a rapist. He’s not a sexual assaulter. Dem Senators know that, and they know the evidence on this is non existent. Half of them are former prosecutors. This was the only way to take him down, so they did it consequences be damned.

I'm sure they would have used the accusation if it had been available, but I think both sides care a lot about the next appointment. It's a major shift in how the cons ution is interpreted and it will be that way for a long time.
