This actually makes a lot of sense tbh. Seattle is dying for a basketball team. The clippers will always be the redheaded step child in LA and second banana to the Lakers.

why not go somewhere that they will get the support they deserve?

It would be an idiotic decision to downgrade from the second-biggest market in America to the #14 market in America, especially after Ballmer spent $2 billion to buy the team (and will spend even more to build a new arena in Inglewood).

"But, but, they'll always be the second team in town!"

Same goes for the Mets, the Jets, the White Sox, etc. You don't see them moving. This is the kind of thing that only fans and the media care about.

Being in the 2nd biggest market has resulted in nothing, nada, zilch for LA's JV team. At least in Seattle, you'd be actually wanted.

New York is a totally different market, far bigger than any other in the US. They can legitimately host two teams.

The White Sox need to relocate as well tbh. As someone who used to live near Chicago the joke was always that the Sox had to pay people to come to the games. The stadium was so empty any time I went, pretty much a grave yard. If your being honest with yourself the only market that successfully host two teams is New York. Try to prove me wrong...you cant.

SF has the 49ers and the Raiders...A's and Giants. All 4 pretty decent attendance and interest. And don't argue that Oakland is a market without SF. That would be like saying Anaheim is a market without LA or Brooklyn without Manhattan or some

Eh, chances are they wouldn't have moved if Seattle had this renovation project ready back then.

Disagree. I used to live in the Great Northwest. Clay Bennet STOLE the Sonics.

Sonics won it all in '79. Clipps haven't won jack. Yet the Sonics don't have a team but the Clipps do? Doesn't make sense. Clipps should move to Seattle.

Seattle made it easy by not trying to keep them at all.

Didn’t matter if Seattle didn’t want to build a new arena.
