Gotta love arbitrary holding calls that lead to great field position for the other team. I hate how refs can control games with the holding call.
Texas holding calls late were blatant, obvious and dumb. Particularly the hold by Shackleford on the drive at the end to run the clock down. Ingram made 13 yards for a first down and the hold it seemed to me was behind the play and Shack just stuck his arm out to get an obvious flag. Yes , the officials can see stuff if they want but I thought several of those were obvious and did affect the play.

He failed to pickup the blitz and then just grabbed the guy. Boneheaded play.

Yes , there is a lot beef pushing, shifting, and moving around in the trenches and sometimes a lineman is going to get caught as leverages change , but I do think cleaning up some of those silly ,obvious holds is a next step for the Oline to make. But again they bounced back for the game winning drive. These guys are being coached and are responding and will continue to get better. What a great and fun game. Hats off to the coaches and the players.

It also appears from post game interviews that they are not getting caught up in the "Texas is back" hype. They appear at least in the interviews to understand this game is over and they have got to go back to work and do it again next week. We will see.

agreed about the play you're talking about. Was more just talking in general and out of bias and frustration Just seemed convenient to me that when UT got backed up on their side of the field they got a holding that gifted OU that first TD on their comeback. The holding calls just always seem to come at such critical moments. Would need to see the play again.

I still think refs have far too much control of games with holding penalties. I'd actually like to see it turned into a 5 yard penalty rather than 10.

The officiating was pretty damn good today. Really stupid 4th quarter penalties by the Texas line. Like REALLY stupid.

Texas got semi lucky to escape with how ing god awful they played in that fourth quarter. I hope this is a damn good lesson to be taken, especially against very talented teams.

Can't take the foot off the ing gas and lose your focus, no matter how big your lead is.

Herman is looking good on his mantra of no turnovers.

    Oklahoma D is horrific.

We finally get to see that our two new safeties are really freshman.

How is it that I absolutely knew we would score on the last drive, but I had to worry about how fast we would score. Cmon D for gosh sakes, yards after trying to tackle, and huge mistakes with wide open receivers.

We have to do a lot of fancy things to get pressure on the QB, which leads us to vulnerability on the run.

Despite some really bad holds and misses picking up blitzes, our offensive line basically mauled them. That was a pure pummeling when they did not bring the House.

It would be really nice to have a competent shifty slot to complement Duvernay’s raw speed, and Johnson/Humphrey catching about everything. Also a legit fast TE that can block... instead of just block. But so much better than last year at TE. Thank you Beck.

We got a FRESHMAN kicker with a live leg. Back to an old tradition.

WE FN won again on the last drive. But this time we needed to score and did, not just run the time out.

We can win without playing our A game. Admit it Tom. There has been NO A game. That went away 3rd qrt again.

    We WON.

No way we run the board with Ws but this was sweet. This isbyfar the best game to win.Nothing like it.

I don't think I've seen a freshmen class so ready to step up and perform. I can't wait to see what the rest of this class looks like. This staff knows how to find solid players for their system.

The safeties definitely are young and learning but let’s not take away from Kyler he’s the ultimate athlete. They’d bite on his suddenness and capability to run and get out of the pocket. I think in a normal situation against a QB with less speed you don’t have to worry about the fear of losing containment. I’m sure Orlando and Herman drilled them on not getting beat by Kylers legs but he’s got an arm at some point you pick your poison. Awesome win!

Nice post and well said. Kyler showed me he is a special athlete. An elite passer and an elite runner. 99% of the time you get elite on one and avg on the other.

I think Texas is starting to get the offense rolling and playing to their strengths. This Texas defense is a good defense, but not great. They have a good DB group, a good LB group and an avg DL. The DL is good against the run but subpar in pass rush. There will be a game when the O and D are clicking together. I believe the defense will be better next year and the offense will be a lot better. Surebthey're losing 2 veteran LBs and 2 good CBs, but I think the talent behind them is better or equal. I'm extremely excited for 2019, but enjoying everything they do in 2018.

They made some big mistakes helping in coverage, tackling. I will let the Murray mistakes go because the guy has incredible shifty speed. Humbling should make you better. Hope we get 3 more years out of both of them. I’m also expecting Overshown to become extremely useful as an LB who can cover next year. I want to see him on the field this year when healthy. As Vito said, we made some incredibly good recruiting moves 2018. Hopefully Cook and some others come through at CB next year.

    D. Davis is gradually making a case for becoming our most reliable corner. I hope others note that playing as a senior and thereby showing you are physically and mentally advanced can help in the draft.

If Texas can win out and has convincing wins, by at least 14 against every opponent, does it have a shot at the playoffs?

Honestly, I dont think so. Alabama is in, Georgia will likely be a 1 loss team to Alabama in the SEC championship, Notre Dame has no one else on their schedule so they'll likely be undefeated, and Ohio State and Clemson will probably be undefeated as well. Bascially, it's Bama and 3 of those 4 I mentioned.
