I'll preface and bold this for the apologists: I could care less about this game. This is about the bigger picture . . .
Today, they were out attempted and scored by 32 and 36 from 3, respectively. It's cliché, but this is the definition of insanity. If they even want to attempt to pretend to compete against the elite, they better get with the times yesterday instead of letting their players do whatever the they want and/or pretending they're smarter than everyone else.
Preseason or not, it should go without saying that Gay and Poeltl should never simultaneously start alongside the 3 constants; especially against the Rockets. The amount of congested, contested, faceup or fadeaway mid rangers they barfed up, was disgusting. Downright putrid basketball.
It should also go without saying that Mills and Forbes shouldn't play together and neither should Gasol and Bertans. On a team already lacking spacing in their starting lineup, they can't afford for their stretch bigs to play together.
Pop is too stubborn to transition to the new NBA where it's all about chucking 3 point shots.
53 3 point attempts by the rockets.... at 32%.... do the math... that's equivalent to 48% from the two.
Aldridge shot 33%, DeRoza shot 43%... its a pathetic strategy.

Yeah not really sure what the point of having Murray/DDR/Gay/LMA all in at once is . . . they all need the ball. LMA and Gasol need to each be shooting the 3 2-3 times a game.
Agree on Mills/Forbes never being on the floor together or Bertans/Gasol (my contention for the bigs is more defensive).
I think Dante is a legit 3&D option and he does need to start. Murray/DDR/Dante/LMA/Gasol with a bench of White (or Mills)/Marco (or Mills)/Gay/Bertans/Poeltl. There's enough playmaking, shooting, and defense in each of those lineups. Forbes and Q-Pon look awful and should only be used in garbage time or in the case of injuries. Walker and Metu to the G-League.
I didn’t see the game, but if that’s the case, Pops already saw what he wanted to see in the lineup and decided to evaluate more of the new players. It’s pre-season. D’Antoni on the other hand thinks is already bragging rights

Yeah, a pity how the stewards of basketball have transformed one of the world's great sports into a video game. But I don't think the sport will not be resurrected. Perhaps Pop doing what he can to keep the old sport compe ive is another way he manifests his "respect for the game."
It's the kind of game play that when you get on a streak you blow out the opponent. Just run the numbers.
