Derrick White is probably the best option right now along with Patty and let it all hang out with them although they won't have much depth. Who should the Spurs bring in at PG now?

    Parker for 2nd rounder?
    Free agent?
    Overseas?
    Other Trade?

I'd wait to see if the Clips have to cut someone. Johnson can get the team through the pre-season. But I guess if PATFO already think a guy is out there (but didn't bring that guy into camp for some reason), then they should make the move.

I'd rather they attempt to make a trade like the one I proposed here: https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/sho...=275908&page=3

Failing that, sign someone young or unestablished for depth. Taylor, Evans, Wallace, Ulis, Weber, Harrison, Whitehead (free agent), all range from possible to likely to be waived. Frazier is slightly more established, but another candidate.

What I don't want, is some former starter or third guard, like Nelson, Chalmers, Brooks, Jack (if waived), Lawson or Sessions because we know the genius wouldn't be able to help himself.

Unless there is a deal that has long term benefit, I say go with PG by committee.
No matter who you bring in or trade for is not going to be a huge help as far as getting this team a higher seed. Trial by fire for white, Forbes and increased Walker time when he is back.

I already called Andre Miller - he "gets it"
He has 3-4 good years left in him.

If Weber is waived I would jump all over that player.

George Hill or Jeff Teague wouldn't be bad - but their salaries at 19M are too much unless we could move Gasol.
Rozier wouldn't be bad either - although Celtics may want too much.
There is always Cojo, who has played with DeMar in Toronto.

They have some Ammo with that extra draft pick if they want to make a decent trade, but really Derrick White is an excellent option to play point right now and they can stay young. Part of the problem we always had when Parker got hurt was that it was like running a car with bad wheels.

Never can tell who will be waived here in the next few days. We picked up Avery Johnson a few times and while he wasn't a world beater, he was very serviceable and could run the offense and play some D.

Getting a pass first PG like Calderon to eat up some minutes and dish out some assists could help hold the fort.

Do not want to trade future picks for some available, stopgap PG who would only exacerbate the backcourt logjam next offseason. If you want to try to offset the loss of our young dynamic player(s), make a deal for a legit SF who will fill a true need now and in the future when the young guys (hopefully) return. Go PG by committee in a season that is shaping up to be pretty inau ious anyway.
